EP Review: Häxan – Death Of Me (Self Released)

South Wales rock trio Häxan return with their highly anticipated EP ‘Death of Me’, a blistering follow up to their acclaimed debut album, ‘White Noise’. It is out on May 23rd, 2025.

It has been way too long, and while Häxan haven’t been quiet (they’ve been relentlessly playing live over the past few years), a new release has been highly anticipated. Happily, that is what we have here with Death of Me. A brand-new EP with five tracks showcasing vibrant rock energy and groove, albeit refined by what they have learned over the past few years. Evident by a stronger focus on anthemic qualities.

Which is what we get with the thrilling Death of Me and energetic Sirens, a pair of tracks with punchy instrumentals and powerful vocals. This is the sound of harmony, where three talented people really lock in, and play off each other impressively. Chances are that your hips will be swinging as hard as your head will be banging while these belters play out.

With Thirteenth Hour though, Häxan get a bit more experimental. Letting the bass do the heavy lifting at the start, before exploding in style but keeping the tempo at a lower level, letting the vocals soar epically and showcasing a strong guitar solo. It’s a brilliant track.

Then it’s Burn Alive and Collide, with the former having flashes of guitar flair that excites, and the latter’s groovy vibes living long in the memory. Häxan have come a long way, clearly having learned a lot, and this EP doesn’t disappoint in the slightest.
