Urne – The Spirit, Alive
Urne have revealed ‘The Spirit, Alive’, the latest single from their brand-new studio album, ‘Setting Fire to the Sky. Due for release on January 30th, 2026, via Spinefarm Records.
Says Urne frontman, Joe Nally:
We are proud to present ‘The Spirit, Alive’, the third single from our upcoming album ‘Setting Fire to the Sky’. This was the very first track we started writing for Album 3. From the beginning, we knew we wanted this record to feel uplifting, this track became a gateway to that vision.
This song is about hope, the human spirit, and a fire that never goes out – what better time to release it than Bonfire night?! Listen to this loud and keep the spirit alive!!
The evolution of Urne hits another big high as the band reveal, arguably, their most uplifting track to date, and in doing so, show just how anthemic they can be. It doesn’t feel quite right to call this track a ‘sing-along’, but damn it, the chorus is infectious. Joe, the vocalist, is really showing off his range here, but it’s also a track with solid riff after riff, and powerful drums that really add heft. I love it. This new album is really shaping up to be very special.
Covert – (Not in your) Nature (feat. Matthew Parry of Silence Reigns)
Covert, the metalcore/hardcore band from Preston, England, have released their latest single, ‘(Not in your) Nature’. It is their 4th ever release and features Matthew Parry of Silence Reigns.
It’s still early days, but Covert have my attention and it’s all thanks to energetic, groovy, and intense efforts like this. Dangerous sounding, the band showcase chaotic heaviness that has a raw nu-infused underbelly. The kind of track that would cause carnage in the live environment. Check it out here.
Harpy – Call Me Mommy
The hotly-tipped, alternative provocateur Harpy has shared her new single, ‘Call Me Mommy’. It is the third single taken from Harpy’s forthcoming debut EP, ‘VII’, set for release on 28th November. Inspired by the legacy of the seven deadly sins, ‘VII’, is a seven part exploration of vice and desire, with each track being a reflection of Harpy’s transgressions: Pride, Greed, Lust, Envy, Gluttony, Wrath and Sloth.
Talking of the new single, Harpy shares:
‘Call Me Mommy’ encompasses my sin of Pride. Set to the backdrop of many hedonistic nights in the underground London club scene. I prowled through those nights, finding debaucherous comrades along the way. I loved every second of it. It’s a soundtrack to my pleasure.
I dig what Harpy is doing, and while not everything the alternative artist puts out are hits for me, this one is very cool. It’s also very sexy, in a sinister and disconcerting way. The Harpy way. Be warned, the beats are very infectious and her voice, like a tickle at the back of the mind, is delightful. Check it out here.
As Everything Unfolds – What You Wanted (feat. Dani Winter-Bates of Bury Tomorrow)
As Everything Unfolds, who recently announced their signing to Century Media, have released a brand-new single, ‘What You Wanted’, featuring Dani Winter-Bates from Bury Tomorrow.
Speaking of ‘What You Wanted’, vocalist Charlie Rolfe says:
Over the last 2 years, I have watched various people in my life struggle with addiction issues, mostly related to alcohol. It’s painful and difficult to watch your most beloved people in your life destroy themselves every single day, and not be able to help them. You find it frustrating not being able to help them, not being to do anything, and being angry at their lack of empathy for the pain they put you through every day.
She continues, I found a lot of relatable things in the 1980’s film The Shining which is famously seen as an allegory for Alcoholism, with Jack’s family being concerned for his health, his wellbeing, seeing him in slow decline. His family are frustrated with the situation he put them in alongside being terrified of him when he is the worst version of himself. It made me realise that I was often frustrated and terrified on that person and felt like I was living in my own Overlook hotel at times, trying to desperately save that person, but also sometimes the best thing to do is to just get out. I used this world as a creative vessel to tell my own story.
Oh damn! I’m really into this track, and it’s not just because it’s one of As Everything Unfolds’ catchiest efforts, it’s also because it rages hard, and features one of the best metalcore vocalists in the world. Together, they make magic, and the riffs of this one make me gurn with pleasure. In fact, I like this so much that I’d call it one of my favourite tracks by them to date.
Save Us – Zero
Save Us return with their new single ‘Zero’, out now via Solid State / Tooth & Nail Records.
The band shares:
‘Zero’ takes you on a wild ride from start to finish, pushing us into some of the heaviest territory we’ve ever explored. It’s packed with moments that quickly became some of our favorites in the entire catalog. Both musically and vocally, we stepped into places we had never dared to go before, and that challenge gave the song its unique intensity. It feels like a turning point for us creatively.
Keep a very close eye on this band, they’re going places and this latest track is up there as one of their finest. Not only is it so damn vibrant, so damn powerful, so damn excitable, and so damn dramatic, but it’s so damn clever too. It might have the basic alternative metal mixed with metalcore makeup, but it has so much more going on. Multiple listens are a must, and each unveils new delights. Check it out here.
Future Static – There’s Nowhere Else to Go
Australian breakthrough heavy act Future Static return with their highly anticipated new single / video ‘There’s Nowhere Else to Go’ via Wild Thing Records, the first new music from the band since their highly acclaimed Liminality album.
The band comment on the single:
‘There’s Nowhere Else to Go’ is an analysis on the duality of criticism from inspiring motivation and personal growth to the destructive inducement of self-hatred and insecurity. Whilst we’ve all experienced the feeling of not being good enough it’s important to believe in yourself despite the constant judgmental commentary especially from the worst critic: your own self.
It’s so good to have them back, and with something that shows evolution. A furious and frantic effort that is filled with creative melodies, exceptionally varied vocals (compare the growls and the singing – out of this world), and a heart-racing explosive metal style. Future Static at their heaviest? It does go that way in places.
Tailgunner – Midnight Blitz
Carrying the torch of NWOBHM, young British band Tailgunner have announced their upcoming sophomore record, ‘Midnight Blitz’, out 6th February via Napalm Records. Along with the announcement and fittingly introduced by air raid sirens comes the first new song, the title track.
Warm up those neck muscles, let the limbs loosen up, dig out the old bullet belt and dust off the leather, who cares if it doesn’t fit anymore, Tailgunner are back. Yes, this is old-school heavy metal beast with one goal – to get you to bang the head, throw the horns, and sing along as loudly as possible. An easy goal as it turns out as it’s a riot of a track. Check it out here.
TX2 – The Rain
After selling out his debut UK/EU headline tour and being announced for both Download Festival 2026 and the forthcoming Ice Nine Kills UK arena tour, rising Los Angeles rock disruptor TX2 has now released new single, ‘The Rain’.
Talking on the new single TX2 mentions:
The Rain is probably the pettiest song I’ve ever written. I was furious when I made it… someone betrayed me and my band, and this was my way of getting it out. Listening back, it’s definitely a ‘YIKES’ moment, but anyone who’s ever had their back stabbed will feel this one.
The rise of TX2 is one that nobody can ignore, and it’s easy to understand just why the artist is drawing in the crowds when you hear anthemic and accessible heavyweights like this. Nothing too instrumentally complex, with meaningful lyrics that are delivered with confidence, crossing genres in clever ways, and with a chorus that gets jammed in the brain matter. It’s a very likable track. Check it out here.
Mallavora – Waste
Mallavora, the blazing force in alt-metal, are back with their brand-new single called ‘Waste’. It comes alongside the announcement of their debut album, ‘What If Better Never Comes?’. Due for release one March 27th, 2026, via Church Road Records.
Wow, just wow. Mallavora are on fire at the moment, and this new track pushes their alternative ways into even heavier and groovier territories. Albeit with their penchant for expansion and, unsurprisingly, as the track goes on, it develops in exciting ways. Vocalist Jess is on staggering form here, the chorus is so punchy, and there is a breakdown that is liable to give you heart palpitations. A band who get better and better with each new release.
The Beautiful Monument – Dancing with the Buried
Queens of emo rock, The Beautiful Monument, return with their searing and deeply personal new single, ‘Dancing with the Buried’, out now via Greyscale Records. ‘Dancing with the Buried’ sees the band tackle the harsh reality of domestic abuse and the emotional aftermath for victims who aren’t believed.
Says vocalist Lizi McIntosh:
This track hits very close to home. It’s about victims not being believed about their abuse because of the stigma that surrounds domestic violence as a whole. The video represents that abuse comes in all forms, shapes and sizes; even if it’s not what’s stereotypically perceived by societal norms.
A creative pop-infused rock banger with a really powerful message behind it and delivered with a level of authenticity that few will be able to ignore. Blending modern alternative elements with the heightened drama of emo rock, this is a track that sticks in the head long afterwards. Check it out here.
Conquer Divide – The Ocean Between Us
Conquer Divide are back and have unveiled their new single and lyric video for ‘The Ocean Between Us’.
The band says:
‘The Ocean Between Us’ is about being set on one life path, going through the motions until something or someone stops you in your tracks. It’s about seeing an alternate version of your life and wondering what if. What if you took the leap and started over somewhere far away, with someone new?
I love that you really never know quite what you’re going to get with Conquer Divide, aside from the assurance that it’s going to be a banger. Which is, of course, the case here, but what we also get is a bit of a heavy rock epic that sees the vocals deliver power and poise, the melodies deliver melancholic jabs to the mind, and the chorus soar impressively. All with a layer of haunting ambience over everything. It’s a great track.
Textures – At the Edge of Winter (feat, Charlotte Wessels (ex-Delain))
Dutch progressive metal pioneers Textures return with ‘At the Edge of Winter’, the second single from their forthcoming album ‘Genotype, set for release on 23rd January on Kscope. Featuring Charlotte Wessels (ex-Delain), the new single comes with a video directed by Textures’ bassist Remko Tielemans with the lyrics exploring introspection, looking within, and understanding the roots of emotion.
The word pioneer should never be thrown around easily, but in the case of Textures, it is used for good reason. They have absolutely nothing to prove and could easily repeat their best hits, but here, they show new layers to their sound. Aspects that will polarise the fanbase, but I find to be really compelling especially as Charlotte Wessels gets such a prominent feature and stands out. No easy task when you’re working with a band as dynamic as Textures. Check it out here.
Lord of the Lost – Would You Walk with Me Through Hell (feat. Infected Rain)
Lord of the Lost have revealed the third single cut from the upcoming new full-length, ‘OPVS NOIR Vol. 2’, out 12th December 2025 via Napalm Records. On ‘Would You Walk with Me Through Hell?’, Lord of the Lost team up with Infected Rain.
Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but Lord of the Lost have dropped a gothic anthem. Yes, another one. I jest, of course, anthems are what this band does and when teaming up with a talent like Lena Scissorhands, it guarantees something truly special. Which it is. A really grand love song with a dark and sinister vein running through it. I dig it.
