Interview: Getting to Know Revelry

Heavy pop band, Revelry, are gearing up for an intense and full 2026, and in this interview we learn more about them and their plans for the year.

1. Hello! Thank you for taking the time to chat to us. First things first, tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started.

We are a Southern California based heavy pop band. We have gone through several line up changes as well as a genre change since the beginning of the band 10 years ago. However in true fashion of the band, we persisted and landed on our strongest lineup to date with Kailey Shepardson (vocals), David Alexander (guitar), Jeff Sage (guitar/vocals), Brian Kriz (bass), and Todd Encarnacion (drums). Together we bring a new sound of heavy pop by mixing metalcore, pop, and even a little bit of r&b sprinkled in.

2. Someone comes to you and asks you to sum up what kind of music you play – what do you tell them?

Our genre of music is generally considered Heavy Pop. We like to mix metalcore guitar riffs with melodic pop and r&b vocals, blending it all together for something new for our fans.

3. What’s currently keeping you busy? A new album/EP/single release? A new video? Playing live, or planning ahead?

We are working on finishing up a double feature EP as releasing new singles and playing several shows/festivals throughout the year.

4. What is about this current period that is particularly exciting for you?

This new genre and lineup has been extremely rewarding for us. We have seen a growth of fans and people wanting to work with us all while playing music that we ultimately love to play. Seeing the reactions from people when we play live is and will always be what we do this for.

5. Tell me about the work that has gone into making it a reality and what it means to you.

We are constantly working. Whether is rehearsing as a full band, gearing up for the next show, or simply putting a plan together on what we want to accomplish next. We are very active in communicating with each other and making sure this band is always moving forward.

6. Making music and being creative can be a very positive experience and can be very good for the mind. In what way has making music had a positive impact on your mental health?

This band has always been advocates for mental health. Our song “Fragile” is a perfect example of this. Writing music is an escape for us. It’s healthy in the most possible way and also brings something for the fans to truly connect with.

7. It can also be incredibly challenging, more so in the modern times. What have been some challenging aspects of making music and how have you overcome them?

The most challenging aspect of being in a band is the fact that you usually have several different ideas and personalities all coming together at once. We are basically a family made up of five members. It can be frustrating and sometimes even draining emotionally. But we have an upfront policy in our band. Everyone’s voice is heard and considered. There is no single member making the decisions for the band. We constantly communicate and work any issues out together. That’s what keeps us strong.

8. How do you handle the online aspects of being in a band? Having to put out content constantly, promoting across several different social media platforms, and having your success measured in likes and follows?

We are constantly filming, editing, and posting content. With this day in age, the music business is heavily relied on your online presence, so we do our best to stay on top of it. Sometimes post will get thousands of likes and views, sometimes only a couple hundred. That’s the game that anyone in the music industry has to play these days. We put out as much content as possible to hopefully reach those new fans.

9. How do you make this part of things enjoyable, and fulfilling, for yourself?

We mostly film content as a band. This helps with coming up with ideas or concepts on what we’re trying to get across with our posts. So not only is it friends coming together to promote what we all love to do, but it’s also a way for all of us to simply have fun while putting in the work. That can be therapeutic and rewarding all at once.

10. Speaking directly to listeners – what would you ask they do to help support you?

It’s as simple as sharing our music with others. Whether its friends, family, or someone you just met. That’s all we can honestly ask for. There’s nothing more rewarding to us than having people listen to our art.

11. Outside of music, what do you like to do to relax?

We are all pretty active people. That means doing things like hiking, going to amusement parks, or even just going to a dinner and hanging out with each other. When we aren’t out though we do play video games, watch movies, or even read a book from time to time.

12. Where can people find you?

You can find us on instagram.com/revelry_ca or tiktok.com/revelryca. All of our music, merch, and shows can also be found on our website www.revelryofficial.com.
