Interview: Getting to Know Cold Drop

Rocking and rolling all over the world, Cold Drop are a busy Danish hard rock band and in this interview we get to know a little bit more about them.

1. Hello! Thank you for taking the time to chat to us. First things first, tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started.

Cold Drop kicked off in 2017. We started out doing covers like everyone else, but it didn’t take long before the urge to write our own stuff hit — hard. We all worship the 80s rock gods, wrote a bunch of tracks, and dropped our debut in 2020. As the songs hit the airwaves, people started paying attention, the gigs rolled in, and we realised we wanted more. So we reshaped the lineup with members who were ready to hit the road, hit it loud, and take Cold Drop across borders.

2. Someone comes to you and asks you to sum up what kind of music you play – what do you tell them?

Imagine a hard-rock cauldron bubbling with 80s glam, heavy riffs, shredding solos, melodic hooks, melancholic twists, and basslines that punch you right in the chest. It’s raw, it’s loud, it’s messy in all the right ways. That’s Cold Drop.

3. What’s currently keeping you busy? A new album/EP/single release? A new video? Playing live, or planning ahead?

Writing. Recording. Gigging. Repeat.

We’ve got shows coming up in Norway, Germany, and a summer festival in Denmark. On top of that, we’re building our SoMe game, because apparently you need more than killer riffs these days — you also need reels.

4. What is about this current period that is particularly exciting for you?

The creative chaos.

We’re crafting new songs, sharpening the setlist, and throwing ideas around like wild cards. Some ideas crash and burn, some become bangers, but the madness is where the magic happens. That’s when the five of us fuse into something that actually feels alive — and that’s Cold Drop at its core.

5. Tell me about the work that has gone into making it a reality and what it means to you.

Blood, riffs, and zero ego.

This isn’t a job — it’s a calling that crawls under your skin and refuses to let go. Being in a band is basically a dysfunctional family that somehow works if everyone leaves their ego at the door. We move fast, trust our gut, and refuse to get stuck in overthinking. If an idea slaps — we run with it.

6. Making music and being creative can be a very positive experience and can be very good for the mind. In what way has making music had a positive impact on your mental health?

Music keeps us sane — or at least sane enough.

It blows off steam, cuts through the bullshit, and lets us channel the stuff that builds up in your head. Call it therapy, call it survival — either way, it works. And connecting with people who feel the same things? That’s the real reward.

7. It can also be incredibly challenging, more so in the modern times. What have been some challenging aspects of making music and how have you overcome them?

We’re spread across the country, so rehearsals can feel like planning a diplomatic summit.

But when we finally get in the room together, we hit it hard and make every second count. It’s a challenge — but one that forces us to stay sharp, focused, and hungry.

8. How do you handle the online aspects of being in a band? Having to put out content constantly, promoting across several different social media platforms, and having your success measured in likes and follows?

It’s a circus — but we’ve got a killer crew.

From contacting radio stations to building visuals to keeping the content flowing, it’s a lot. Luckily, our crew is professional, dedicated, and just crazy enough to stick with us. They’re part of the Cold Drop family, and they’ve got our backs 100%.

9. How do you make this part of things enjoyable, and fulfilling, for yourself?

As mentioned. We have a dedicated and professional crew who enjoy that part of the game and take pride in making the best and bad ass products possible.

10. Speaking directly to listeners – what would you ask they do to help support you?

Stay curious and stay loud.

We’re shaping our identity, experimenting, breaking our own rules, and refusing to fit into one box. Hard rock is the backbone — but every song explores a new angle. We want people who enjoy the ride, embrace the twists, and let our music hit them however it hits them.

11. Outside of music, what do you like to do to relax?

Pass. (Rock ’n’ roll doesn’t need explanations.)

12. Where can people find you?

Facebook and Instagram — come hang out, come say hi, and come get loud with us.
