Horror Short Review: Don’t Play with Dolls (2026)

Coming from writer and director Alex Magaña and writer Jed Brian, Don’t Play with Dolls is an ACMofficial horror short that stars Angel Strittmater and Sophie Lafleche.

The former plays Abigail, a young woman on a house-sitting job who is frightened by a realistic looking doll that is sitting in a chair when she arrives. A doll with a sign saying, ‘do not touch’. It’s creepy, but harmless, until she inevitably touches it.

Viewer beware; you’re in for a scare.

Sort of. After all, this is another ACMofficial short and the formula is familiar. However, this one does have some creepy vibes and an ending with the potential to frighten those prone to jump scares. It’s well acted, well filmed, and as always, the music/sound effects are on point. I liked it.
