EP Review: Tuk Smith & The Restless Hearts – Troubled Paradise (Gypsy Rose Records)

American rockers, Tuk Smith & The Restless Hearts (founded and fronted by former Biters frontman, Tuk Smith), will release the brand-new EP, ‘Troubled Paradise’ on October 16th, 2025, via Gypsy Rose Records.

This is pretty cool, but what do you expect? Tuk Smith is a cool customer and rock music never goes out of style, no matter who tries to tell you different. Featuring four creative, lively, passionate, and anthemic efforts, Tuk Smith and The Restless Hearts carry on from where they left off with their sophomore album. Beginning with a vibrant showcase of foot-tapping and finger-snapping rock and roll goodness. Catchy rhythms, big melodies, powerful vocals, with everything coming together nicely in the chorus, it’s an instant hit.

Runnin’ With the Wild Ones is next, and sees the group go bigger with their sound, giving us something more akin to a stadium anthem. Which should tell you all you need to know about their ambition. Something highly encourageable, especially when we’re getting to enjoy something with the kind of ‘ballady’ power of Sadie Mae. A rich showcase of heart and soul. Before the lovable EP wraps up with Love Don’t Live Here Anymore, a sweet closer that uses an acoustic guitar to create a different vibe.

The EP will whet the appetite of those hungrily awaiting news of the next album, and across the four tracks, Tuk Smith and The Restless Hearts show why. Diverse rock music with hooks, it’s a really beautiful thing.
