EP Review: Headwreck – Attitude Adjustment (Self Released)

Brisbane nu-metal provocateurs Headwreck will release their highly anticipated EP, ‘Attitude Adjustment’ on October 31st, 2025.

There’s a lot to like about Headwreck’s EP, especially if alternative, retro nu-metal, and rocking anthems are your jam. Throw in plenty of boundary experimentation too, and the six-track record starts to look like one hell of a potent release.

They’re a very creative band, and capable of putting silly smiles on faces with varied tunes. The first of which is one of the EPs biggest, and most polarising anthems. All because while it does go hard, it’s weird, and has a rap section that will certainly divide. Personally, I liked it and thought it fitted nicely. Though I do dig what Headwreck do most of the time. Hence why I also think LOW BLOW! is an absolute banger.

The aggressive slant it has doesn’t overshadow the overriding feeling of fun, and no matter how heavy Headwreck get here, and they get really heavy, it continues to be a grin-inducing listen. Most of which comes from an infectiousness that runs through the track like a vein. Wait for the ending, it goes hard.

Choppy riffs, a soaring chorus, and plenty of heavy intensity makes Plan Z another appealing banger. Before Buzzsaw lives up to its name as it tears through the mind with infectious determination, delivering a meaty breakdown to cap off a memorable experience. Both showcase the wide musical palette of the band, and both will have universal appeal.

The ‘nu’ side of band, given a modern makeover, is back with aplomb on BINGO! A heart-racing explosion of heavy and hyperactive experimentation. Then, finally, it’s Razor, and here Headwreck double down on their cleaner, more alternative side with the EP’s most emotive effort of all. The perfect way to cap off a memorable listen. Headwreck continuing to deliver gold with every release.
