EP Review: Cell Games – The Redux: You Have (Not) Heard These Songs Before (Self Released)
Dublin alt-rock band Cell Games are set to release their debut EP, ‘The Redux: You Have (Not) Heard These Songs Before’, recorded and produced by Josh Sid Robinson (JSR Audio) in Belfast. The EP is out on the 12th of December 2025.

As I understand it, Cell Games was an online pandemic project between two people Maximillion (vocals) and Tristan (guitar and programming) that has now grown into a fully-fledged band. These four tracks come from the original incarnation of Cell Games but have been re-imagined to reflect who they are now.
It makes sense to me, especially as for plenty, this will be the first time they’re hearing them anyway. So, what do we have? Four heavy alternative bangers with flair and drama infused throughout. Kicking off with the groovy, nu-twisted, and fiery bounce of Lament Configuration. Cell Games have such sights (or should that be sounds?) to show you and the following Let’s Go to Therapy proves to be one hell of a highlight.
I really dig this track because of the way it combines heart racing rhythm, spitfire vocals, a big melody-focused chorus, and some cool sounding gang chants.
I also dig the hell out of Filthyweight too though, where Cell Games get a bit grungy, albeit still quite experimental, and still bring the riffs. Before Relics wraps up a head turning release in anthemic alternative fashion. The layered vocals really make the difference here.
So, Cell Games have fully arrived now, and I think a lot of people will like what they hear. The EP shows variety and enough unique elements to make them more memorable.
