Bloodstock 2026 Band Feature: Sunk
Where does the time go!? Once again, Bloodstock is right around the corner, and once again, it is shaping up to be one the best festivals of the year. Not just because there are a variety of bands spread across its main two stages, not just because it is packed with fun things to do, great food and drink to enjoy, and tons of likeminded people to experience it all with, but because it champions the future of the scene with its New Blood and EMP stages. Where unsigned bands, some handpicked, but most coming through the Metal 2 the Masses events, get to play the festival.

It can be an absolute gamechanger for a band to play the New Blood or EMP stages and plenty have gone on to bigger and brighter things. We know, we’ve been paying a lot of attention to that side of things for a long time now, and every year, tried to feature as many bands playing as we could. While we can’t promise that we will see all these bands at the festival, we can promise that you will find a wealth of talent should you wander over to either.
Who knows, you may even end up finding your new favourite band.
It’s almost time for BOA 2026, so it’s time to get to know some of bands who will be playing the New Blood Stage or the EMP stage. This is Sunk!

First things first, tell us a little bit about yourself. How and when did you get started?
SUNK was formed in April 2022 and was the latest incarnation in a series of bands featuring Luke on drums and Choff on vocals as their mainstay members. A few lineup changes (bass, guitar, vocals) and some health issues meant the band had a stop/start existence for its first few years, but the current lineup was solidified in December 2025 with Geoff replacing Choff on vocals and the band was finally able to record its first EP, which was released at the end of February 2026. The members of SUNK have played together in various bands for some 30 years, so although the band itself is “new” its members come with a wealth of prior experience.
Someone comes to you and asks you to sum up what kind of music you play – what do you tell them?
We’re a Doom-inspired Metal band – born of the Doom genre but with a lot of other Metal influences thrown into the mix which, we think, helps set us apart to a degree. One fan recently described us as “Low and Slow” – and we proudly endorse the world’s slowest circle pits!
How has playing Bloodstock 2026 come about?
It was suggested that we throw our hat in the ring and we thought why not! We genuinely didn’t expect to win our heats – the competition and talent of the other bands was fierce!
What does it mean for you to play the festival this year?
We’re truly honoured. Getting to play such a prestigious festival, especially on its 25th Anniversary, is something really very special!
What’s the setlist looking like and can we expect any surprises?
As we’re still completely new to most, and only released our debut EP in February of this year, we plan on playing the EP – unfortunately though, as we only have half an hour (we believe), it won’t be in its entirety and we’ll need to cut one song, which is what we did for our final heat as we didn’t want to risk over-running.
Who are you looking forward to seeing, provided they don’t clash with your set?
Geoff – Froglord, Urne, Saxon, Stampin Ground, Judas Priest, Death Angel
Simon – Lamb of God, Cryptopsy, Testament, Sepultura, Judas Priest, Nevermore
Andy – Lamb of God, Judas Priest, Urne, Inhuman Nature and Troll Mother
Luke – Testament and Lamb Of God
Martin – gutted that Of Mice & Men have had to drop out, but otherwise i’m hoping to catch Bleed From Within, Northlane, Inhuman Nature, Graphic Nature, Stampin Ground, Urne and of course Lamb Of God!
Ignoring the obvious (tent, sleeping bag, toilet roll, etc.) what’s one thing you should always take with you to a festival and why?
Geoff – Rum, Cream Crackers, earplugs. Basically in that order you can sleep and can’t hear snoring louder than your own. That’s night time. Daytime.. wellies, mints and a kayak for when it floods.
Simon – Eye mask, ear plugs, omeprazole and powerbank.
Andy – Rennies!
Luke – Yvette’s!
Martin – Cuddly toy. Sorry, i thought for a moment we’d slipped into an episode of The Generation Game…
It’s post-set, you’re packed away and your press is all done. It’s finally time to kick back and relax, what are you drinking and what are you eating?
Geoff – Corn chips and Guinness. White wine and Rum later.
Simon – Beer or red wine, and curry or noodles!!
Andy – IPA and cheap Mexican food!
Luke – Beer and Mexican food!
Martin – I’m really enjoying Thatchers Blood Orange Cider at the moment, and anything involving chicken is always good by me!
Sunk play the New Blood stage on the Sunday of the festival. Limited Bloodstock tickets are on sale now and you pick them up here.
