Album Review: Unprocessed – Angel (Self Released)

Due for release on October 31, 2025, ‘Angel’ is the new album from German metal outfit Unprocessed.

Inspiring, exciting, and addictive modern metal that combines the sharpness of metalcore with the ferocity of deathcore, throws in technical twists, experiments with melody, and so much more. This is Unprocessed and they’re continuing their fine form with another banging record.

One that delivers a bevy of energetic anthems, starting with the layered 111. A vibrant, weird, and explosive showcase of what this album has to offer. The meshing of styles, choppy effects, and burgeoning cinematic elements are certainly unique sounding, but that’s par for the course as Sleeping with Ghosts, Beyond Heaven’s Gate, and Sacrifice Me deliver plenty of unforgettable moments that jar the senses. Breakdowns, soaring melodies, catchy choruses, angular rhythms, emphatic groove, and so much more.

Did I mention the album also has two hefty guests? Zelli of Paleface Swiss and Jason Aalon Butler of Fever 333 appear in the latter half of the album. The former on Solara, delivering a characteristic intense performance on a track that is all over the place, tone wise, but has exciting garage-style effects and a big chorus. Whereas the latter pops up on Head in the Clouds, a nu-metal infused banger with dystopian riffs, subtle atmosphere, and blooming heaviness.

Those are both really impressive efforts, especially as they create unique soundscapes, but that’s the album as a whole. It’s not the best flowing record you’ll hear because of this, but the captivating nature of each track is undeniable. Unprocessed are absurdly talented, brimming with creative confidence, and clearly unwilling to compromise their vision by focusing on just the anthemic parts of their sound. There are plenty, none the less.

Anthems like Snowlover, with its punchy chorus and abstract guitar rhythms. Anthems like the chaotic Terrestrial, Your Dress and its haunting vocals and dreamy synth, and the highly dramatic ballad that is Where I Left My Soul. Each offers the listener something with heart and soul, promising potency, but in different ways.

It’s what makes this record so addictive, and what makes it another giant release for a band truly on the rise. The record is capped with a short piece of heart-wrenching melody and spoken word called First Tongue, which leads into the powerful Perfume, before Dark, Silent and Complete closes things out in really hostile and heavy fashion. Hilariously so, as it’s arguably the album’s most intense listen, even with the mid-point shift. No spoilers, save to say that it is magical.

What a surprise, eh?
