Album Review: Still In Love – Recovery Language (Church Road Records)

Containing members of Dead Swans, Throats, Brutality Will Prevail, Last Witness and Bring Me the Horizon (to name a few!), Still In love is the brainchild of UKHC’s brightest talents. On September 5th, 2025, they will release their highly anticipated debut album ‘Recovery Language’, via Church Road Records.

It’s finally time and bloody hell, has it been worth the wait. Let’s be honest, if you’re reading this, you’ve probably been looking forward to this as much as I have, and a slew of quality singles have only increased that desire. Still in Love are special, more than just ‘another hardcore’ band, while being champions of the scene too. They equally transcend the scene with their melodic edge and embody it, notably the anthemic violent chaos side of things.

It’s how we end up with a first half that hits with such force, even though the tracks on offer fly by in a blur of fist-swinging, two-stepping noise. Kicking off with the darker, more metallised tone of Tell the Truth, before Nervous Impulse delivers a spin-kick to the face with its dangerous hardcore stance. Powerful, believable, and so damn enjoyable. The sound of a band locked in and focused on delivering the absolute best of themselves.

They’re on track to be the kings of modern melodic hardcore, and if there is any one track that proves this unequivocally, it might be Preserve & Cherish. A track that showcases their incredible form, delivering a passionate showcase of hardcore intensity with layers of potent melody, exemplified by the vocals and an inspired Sam Carter guest spot. I love it, and so will you. Especially as it’s complimented by potent Feathered Nest (the guitars are awesome here) and the pit inducing Inherit. The latter of which is two-stepping, head-banging heaven, and a personal favourite.

Although the ending still doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me.

No matter though, as Still in Love start to push their sound to new heights with the more involved The State of Things to Come. The vocals are throat-shredding here, and made even more powerful sounding with some really dramatic instrumentals. It’s the stuff that makes Still in Love such a force, and right at the end, they get even more creative with Pillar of Strength, a track that goes past the five-minute mark. Before that though, it’s You Have to Let it Go, arguably the fastest and heaviest track of all, but also one with memorable melody.

A banging record. Still in Love rise up and smash expectations. They have arrived and the scene will never be the same again.
