Album Review: Loneshore – Nothing Left to Deconstruct (Willowtip Records)

Progressive post metal outfit, Loneshore, have joined the Willowtip roster and will release their second full-length album, ‘Nothing Left to Deconstruct’, on June 19th, 2026.

I don’t think it will take long for most to understand why Willowtip have snapped Loneshore up and I don’t think it will take long for most to find themselves sinking into what this album has to offer. From the moment Self Oscillations brings forth forlorn melody and gloomy atmosphere, it grips. Tightening as the album goes on and Loneshore expand into deeper, darker, and more intense territories.

Be prepared to be immersed in a cacophony of progressive post metal delights as Loneshore experiment with genres and push their sound in more elaborate directions.

Straylight is where the heft of Loneshore comes to life and it’s where that initial grip really starts to tighten. There’s melody, but there’s heavy riffs and punchy drumming too, blended with two vocal styles; one clean and soaring, the other filled with guttural vitriol. It’s an early epic, but I think the maddening dark descent that To Stride the Black Earth takes the listener on is even more special. The thicker sound, pacier tempo, and garish vocals really work for me.

Then there is Birth of a Mountain, a daringly expansive listen with the staggering twists and turns that effortlessly captures the imagination. I must have listened to this one four or five times before I moved on to the rest of the album. Which speaks volumes about its brilliance, especially when you take into account its near ten-minute runtime. A stunning showcase of what Loneshore can do.

The quality continues into Of Lost Waters and Parhelion though. The former’s thick layer of melodrama delivered with potency via the vocals is cool, and even as it transforms into something more robust, the post driven spectacle stays intact. Whereas the latter is a much more intense experience with anarchic guitars and snarling vocals. Both continue to be great examples of just why Loneshore are so compelling.

Alas, all goods things must end, and With Nothing We Part is the finale. A finale befitting of what came before and one that stays with you long afterwards. I love it, but you’ll struggle to find me not loving every part of the album. It’s smart music with a ton of depth, and the staying power of this can’t be understated.
