Album Review: Krooked Tongue – I Know a Place (Self Released)

Long awaited and much anticipated, ‘I Know a Place’, is the debut studio album of Bristol rock trio Krooked Tongue. Out on April 24th, 2026, and on limited edition vinyl.

A massive accomplishment for Krooked Tongue, this album is the culmination of years of work and to see it come to fruition, especially on vinyl, is something they can be so proud of. Yet, it’s so much more than just that incredible slice of success. It is a glorious showcase of heartfelt, honest, and intense rock music delivered with potency. Ten tracks that range in style with varying layers of addictiveness.

A lot of which will be very familiar to fans who have been on the Krooked Tongue train up to this point. In fact, I’ve actually written individual reviews for almost every song on the album, going all the way back to November 2024. Which might make you think there’s simply no need to review an album of songs I’ve heard and written about already, but you’d be wrong. There’s always a need to write about Krooked Tongue and it brings me no end of joy to experience all these bangers in one complete, cohesive release.

Are you new to Krooked Tongue? Do you like rock music? The kind that comes with big melodic vibes, energetic groove, infectious rhythms, smooth vocals, and so much more? Of course you do, and that is what you will get with this release. From beginning to end, it’s an album that delivers on all its promises.

Yet, while being impressively catchy and accessible is one thing, it’s something else that really makes Krooked Tongue special. That’s the sweetness that comes with a layer of pensiveness, blended with melodrama that isn’t blatant. The kind of song writing and delivery that feels more authentic. One of the finest examples of this being Marigold, which is still a stunner of a track a year after I first heard it.

It’s so far from alone though, and when you have tracks that mean something, favourites change every other day. Another slice of brilliance is You Don’t Need a Sun Tan, which tickles my rock nostalgia bone nicely. Then there is Drugstore Cowboy, a track that has (arguably) the album’s best chorus. As well as the heart-warming and wrenching beauty of I Don’t Believe in Ghosts, and the hyperactivity of Blood Shark. It is an album that keeps on giving.

One of 2026’s most satisfying releases.
