Album Review: Centinex – With Guts and Glory (Black Lion Records)
Swedish death metal veterans Centinex return with full force and fearless conviction on their 12th full-length album, ‘With Guts and Glory’, set for release on November 7th, 2025 via Black Lion Records. The album will be available on CD, vinyl, and across all major digital and streaming platforms.

Centinex please me, on both a personal and professional level. With the former, giving me eight reasons to grimace and gurn with pleasure and with the latter, giving me an easy review to write.
That’s not me being facetious, rather, it’s a compliment. You see, Centinex are so dependable as far as lovable death metal goes that every new release comes with a guarantee that fans of the heavy and brutal stuff will come away happy, and I am fan of the heavy and brutal stuff.
Here, we get eight tracks of the heavy and brutal stuff, albeit with a penchant for thrashy, punky, and traditional metal flair. It just means we get death metal with some groove, and who the hell is going to complain about that? Especially when the core of this band remains rooted in the death side of things.
It’s no surprise that Centinex are experimenting though, as they’ve been doing this for a while now. Few bands reach album number twelve, let alone with the kind of commanding potency that this band still has. From the moment Becoming sees Centinex unleashes a cacophony of riffs in head banging heavy style, to the moment Sorrowtears pulls no punches with its straightforward death viciousness, the album holds the attention.
Beginning to end, and everything in between, this is a fine sounding Centinex.
A personal favourite is Masterpiece in Flesh, partially because it is so punky, partially because the vocals are growly as f**k, and partially because it’s quite catchy. A side to Centinex that I really do enjoy. Although I do have to praise the hell of out of the head banger that is Gods of Guilt and the frenzy of noise that is I Am the Way as well.
Centinex satisfy again. Another album, another banger effort, and another set of pleased fans.
