Album Review: Anti-Sapien – At The Mercy Of The Merciless (Terminus Hate City)
Anti-Sapien return with ‘At the Mercy of the Merciless’, out on January 16th, 2026, via Terminus Hate City.
As ugly, harsh, crusty, and heavy as ever, Anti-Sapien are back with a six-track, twenty-two-minute blast of sweat-drenched, knuckle-dragging noise. One that draws from the sounds of d-beat, punk, death, grind, and metal, puts them in a blender and then adds the ‘not so secret’ ingredient that is piss.
The entire record is built on a foundation of vicious speed and aggression, and even though there isn’t much in the way of ‘give’, it’s surprisingly compelling and surprisingly varied.
From an opening heavy salvo that has the force and savagery to splits heads open, to the sound of ripping and tearing heaviness, to unforgiving vitriolic intensity that comes wrapped up in brutally chaotic instrumentals and bile-encrusted vocals, the trio of Old Drugs, Eater of Ghosts, and D.E.A.D. deliver Anti-Sapien gold. Trust me, if you like what you hear here, you’re going to like the rest of album too.
There’s no compromising here, it continues to be a blunt beating administered by the likes of the title track, which has just a touch of groove. The likes of Grinding the System, an apt title, and George Washington’s Teeth, a finale filled with sharp intent and purposeful vigour.
You’ll feel this one in deep in your soul.
