Electric Callboy – Let the Good Times Roll (feat. The Offspring)
Electric Callboy have released their newest single ‘Let the Good Times Roll’, featuring legendary punk rock group The Offspring and unmistakable vocals from Dexter Holland. The track serves as the latest preview of their forthcoming album ‘TANZNEID’.
Electric Callboy on their new single and the collab with Dexter Holland and The Offspring:
The Offspring have been one of the bands that shaped us from the very beginning. Their music was part of our lives long before Electric Callboy even existed, so having Dexter on this song honestly feels surreal. ‘Let The Good Times Roll’ is everything we love about loud, fun and energetic music, and getting to share that with one of our biggest inspirations makes this a really special moment for us.
Dexter Holland adds:
When Electric Callboy sent us the track, it immediately put a grin on our faces. It’s energetic, unpredictable and doesn’t take itself too seriously – exactly the kind of spirit we’ve always loved about punk and rock music. I had a blast being part of ‘Let the Good Times Roll’ and can’t wait for everyone to hear it.
The biggest album of the year? It’s certainly beginning to feel like it and it shows just how far Electric Callboy have come that they can have an artist like Dexter Holland guest on a song. Guess what? It’s a catchy punk rock effort that sounds a bit like Conspiracy of One-era Offspring, albeit with Electric Callboy’s electronica twists and heavy turns, and is pretty much guaranteed to get people moving. Though, personally, I think it’s quite forgettable.
Chewing Glass Collective – Wasting Away (Nailbomb Cover)
Extreme metal group, Chewing Glass Collective have returned with an intense cover of Wasting Away by Nailbomb.
Bloody hell, if you thought the original wrecked, then you’re in for a really wonderful time with this version. Chewing Glass Collective do a standup job of capturing the raw and furious energy of the original, while adding their own touches of flair and, somehow, making it sound even more intense. This is a brilliant cover. Check it out here.
Tallboy – Fuck the Algorithm
UK alt-metal bruisers, Tallboy, are back with their new single, ‘Fuck the Algorithm’.
Says the band:
Fuck The Algorithm is loud, raw, and unapologetically angry. The song takes aim at social media’s false sense of connection, the endless validation loops, and the surface-level thinking that keeps people distracted and disconnected.
It’s a direct response to a culture that often values appearances over authenticity, delivered with all the frustration and energy that inspired it.
Consistently delivering quality metal, this new Tallboy track comes with some serious fury and fire, and I’m well on board with it. Especially as the approach comes with anthemic properties, creates a thick layer of tension, and has some cool twists along the way. They’re a band more people really need to be paying attention to. Check it out here.
Tropic Gold – Witch House (feat. Harpy)
Ahead of their Download Festival appearance next month, Tropic Gold, return with brand new single, ‘Witch House, featuring Harpy, their first for new label partner, BLKIIBLK.
Shares the band:
Witch House explores the all encompassing parasite of an external force consuming and trapping its victim. This force is experienced in many forms, Witch House addresses the relationship and connection between two people, one being the trapped, feeling they’re within a hex they cannot break.
You had me at new music from Tropic Gold, but new music from Tropic Gold that features Harpy? A sure-fire banger before play has even been hit, and happily, the track meets these hefty expectations. A dark and dangerous sounding track with layers of modern alternative elements and metalcore focused heaviness. I dig it.
Cell Games – Hellworld
Irish nu-groove band Cell Games return with their new single, ‘Hellworld’, an examination of rising intolerance, religious influence and the creeping sense that society is moving backwards.
A track to get you moving, Cell Games’ heavy intensity is matched by the energy of the groove, and it is downright infectious. Weird, so damn weird, but so damn wonderful, how the bloody hell aren’t more people talking about this band? One listen turns into ten very quickly. Check it out here.
How to Disappear and Never Be Found – I Don’t Know How to Feel
How to Disappear and Never Be Found (HDNF) have released their debut single, ‘I Don’t Know How to Feel’, featuring Georgia Train of Bitter Ruin.
Alongside the single, the band have announced their debut EP, This Machine Is Useless (6 November), their official launch show with The Dark and District 13 (7 November), and a performance at the NWOCR 5th Anniversary Festival at KK’s Steel Mill (26 September).
This debut single from How to Disappear and Never Be Found certainly leaves an impression, and it’s mostly a good one. Showcasing a varied rock effort with some interesting touches, least of the vocal power and off-kilter melodies. The chorus is cool, and chances are, you’ll be humming it for a while afterwards. Check it out here.
Witchsorrow – Hades Chains
Doom legends, Witchsorrow have released their brand-new single, ‘Hades Chains’. The track is taken from their forthcoming album ‘The Devil and All His Works’, out 3rd July.
Marching forward with purpose, this new Witchsorrow album is going to be great, and any linger doubts will be put to bed by this hefty head banger of a track. Where Witchsorrow’s dark and wicked doom vibes blend with raucous heavy metal intensity. It oozes atmosphere, and is capped off with a thrilling guitar solo. Check it out here.
Distance Divine – Jezebel
Blending influences from techno, metal, punk, and pop, innovative DIY band Distance Divine are back with their brand-new single, ‘Jezebel’.
What a creative video. It will warm the heart of gamers around the world. As for the song? It’s cool too. A vibrant listen that sits more on the metalcore side of things but has plenty of interesting genre twists to make it more memorable beyond a brilliant video. It’s one of those tracks that you just know will go off in the live environment.
Arise from Worms – Power Obsessed
Arise from Worms, the progressive death metal super group featuring guitarist Sonny Lombardozzi (Formerly of Incantation), Steve Tucker (Morbid Angel) on vocals, Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy) on drums and Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Steve Vai, Malmsteen, Kiss) on keys, have released their new single, ‘Power Obsessed’. It comes from their debut album ‘A Bleeding Tree Hanging Self Destruction’ is set for release on July 10th.
Don’t let the two-and-a-half-minute length fool you, this is a packed track to the point that, on first listen, it’s downright nonsensical. Arise from Worms pushing the progressive death metal tag to a whole new limit, one that is experimental to the point of mockery. Yet, the more you hear it, the more it starts to make sense and the more addictive it becomes. It’s madness, but it’s madness that is catching. Check it out here.
Devildriver – Dead in the Water
Groove metal legends, Devildriver have released their latest new single ‘Dead in the Water’. Taken from their upcoming album, ‘Strike and Kill’, out July 10th via Napalm Records.
Says vocalist Dez about ‘Dead in the Water’:
This is one of the most positive songs I’ve ever written lyrically, coming from a very dark time straight into blinding light. I needed to empower others to do the same as I did, and tell them to ‘stay the course,’ life turns around if given the chance to flourish.
The vibe musically on this is very old school Devildriver and the entire band is cracking hard here, if you’re a long time listener you’re gonna love this one! Enjoy!
Putting it out there right away, I think this is one of the best modern Devildriver songs I’ve heard in a long time and all because it keeps it so simple. A track that doesn’t try to be anything but Devildriver. Filled with furious groove, energised intensity, and one hell of a chorus. All wrapped up in positive lyrical messages. More of this please!
