Weekly Review Roundup: Monday 30th March 2026 – Friday 3rd April 2026

From groovy hard rock, to modern thrash and death metal, extreme noise, blackened death, and so much more, we’ve reviewed some great releases this week, and here’s our weekly reminder of what was covered.

Corrosion of Conformity – Good God / Baad Man (Nuclear Blast Records)

One half filled with pissed off heavy power, one half filled with funkier, groovier, and rock-focused efforts, Corrosion of Conformity have let their imagination run wild here. Sometimes, unstructured and with jam session vibes, sometimes tighter than a finger-trap puzzle, but always interesting. Especially as it combines elements of the Corrosion of Conformity that was with elements of Corrosion of Conformity that is now. Nostalgic and fresh, equally with plenty of intriguing experimental touches too.

Nervosa – Slave Machine (Napalm Records)

It’s time to thrash… but with a fresh twist! Nervosa are back, settled (thanks to founding guitarist Prika Amaral establishing herself as the vocalist with 2023’s Jailbreak), and in a riotous mood. Delivering an album that expertly blends old-school thrashy ferocity with modern death-infused technicality and anthemic focus. The result is a beast of a record, featuring a manic set of tracks that go varying degrees of hard.

Relic – Crown of Flies (Self Released)

Relic are clearly made up of experienced artists, and it shows in Crown of Flies. While this isn’t breaking new ground in the blackened death metal space, it’s a welcome release: four brutal, well-written tracks that hit hard, flow well, and demand headbanging. Not every band needs to reinvent the wheel; sometimes, you just want quality heavy music to lose yourself in and Crown of Flies delivers exactly that.

Crème Flesh – For Your Ass Only (Comatose Music)

just because their approach is childish, has their tongues buried firmly in their (butt) cheeks, and could be considered downright offensive to some, doesn’t mean they’re half-assing it. Far from it, they’re whole-assing it and it’s nice and thicc.

Tempted? Crème Flesh are downright encouragable. Get in there as deep as you can, you might find you like it more than you think.

Onchocerciasis Esophagogastroduodenoscopy – Fugue Gnawed from the Scabbed God Cerebrum (Gore House Productions)

Every so often, they showcase more than just relentless speed, blasting heaviness, and gurgling gutturals. Not often, but when you suddenly hear some groove, recognise a methodical beat, or feel the lift that comes with rhythm breaking down, it’s notable and all because the rest of the time, Onchocerciasis Esophagogastroduodenoscopy spew out a nonsensical racket.
