Live Review & Interview: Silverburn (Supporting Crowbar) at The Electric Ballroom, London (27/02/26)

It is the toughest of tasks opening for a band that, pretty much, everyone in the venue is there for, but when you’re a band the calibre of Silverburn, it’s almost a given that you’re going to turn heads the moment you start playing. Although, that’s not to suggest that most inside the Electric Ballroom aren’t fully aware of who they are, especially as anyone who has been paying attention to this run will know that Silverburn have solidified their reputation on it.

The project of ex-Taint/Hark frontman Jimbob Isaac, Silverburn have been making strong waves since the release of their 2023 debut full-length ‘Self Induced Transcendental Annihilation’. A sludgy, doomy, progressively tinged beast of a record that Jimbob wrote and recorded alone. Now, having evolved into a live three-piece, there’s a real sense of momentum about the band, especially as new music is on the horizon.

A few hours before they took to the stage, I sat down with Jimbob where we really went into detail about this tour. We also spoke about the plans for new music, personal and professional growth, the benefits and drawbacks to being independent, and the pros of pineapple on pizza, as well as much more.

Before that though, let me talk a little bit about Silverburn live because I was in the Electric Ballroom to see them play and it was very special. A hard-hitting showcase of sludgy heaviness filled with doomy riffs, flashes of groove, and a mathematical focus on intensity. They fit perfectly on this bill, and unsurprisingly, London responds in kind. It’s a visceral blast of heavy, emphasised by Jimbob’s powerful throaty roars, where the man delivers his intriguing and clever lyrical content with force.

I watched from on high, and it’s rare to see the Electric Ballroom this packed at 6:45pm, but that’s the draw a band like this has. Hot, sweaty, and delightfully violent looking, the pit is relentless and Silverburn wrap up a thirty-odd minute set with the feeling that had they carried on, nobody would have complained.
