The Harbinger – Gates of Hell (Inverse Records)

Nordic misery, delivered with passion and with an emphasis on melancholic heaviness. The Harbinger combine the best of several worlds, where even elements of goth and melodic rock seep into a death and doom focused sound. The result of all of this is a really potent sound that chills the soul but warms the metal heart.

Sacred Leather – Keep The Fire Burning (King Volume Records / Wise Blood Records)

With passion, power, and poise, Sacred Leather are turning back the clock… again, and giving listeners something that sounds ripped straight from the heyday of hair-raising, head-banging, and horn-throwing heavy metal. A ten-track slab of old school joy, with modern production, and a few twists on the formula they introduced with their debut album.

Lord of the Lost – OPVS NOIR Vol. 2 (Napalm Records)

When it’s good, it’s as good as anything else Lord of the Lost have put out there, but when it’s not, it’s so damn forgettable and that is something this band should never be.

Lust Of Decay – Entombed in Sewage (Comatose Music)

The word is grim and it defines this album, not just because Lust of Decay have returned with a thirst for carnage, but because across the eight tracks of this album, the mayhem doesn’t let up.

Cell Games – The Redux: You Have (Not) Heard These Songs Before (Self Released)

Cell Games have fully arrived now, and I think a lot of people will like what they hear. The EP shows variety and enough unique elements to make them more memorable.

Static-X – Wisconsin Death Trip (25th Anniversary Corrosive Edition) (Otsego Entertainment Group)

No matter what, you get bang for your buck, and the overall thing is a glowing tribute to one of metal’s most iconic albums. Long live the death trip.

Dimholt have delivered something special with MetaForm. It is undeniably rooted in traditional black metal, but the modern touches, atmospheric depth and melodic richness elevate it well beyond the ordinary.
