EP Review: Pythonic – Decomposition (Self Released)

Released on December 19th, 2025, ‘Decomposition’ is the sophomore EP from Canadian (Saskatoon) death thrash band, Pythonic.

A nice blast of heaviness to see out the year. Pythonic throw their all into delivering a memorable showcase of thrashing death metal. An EP of five tracks that shows off plenty of creativity, has moments of exciting flair, and undeniably delivers the hefty ‘one-two’ punch of death crossed with thrash metal.

Beginning in forceful style, Guiltfeeder blends aggressive speed and intensity, with garish drops in tempo that allow the vocals to step forth and roar with power. A cool solo caps this one off nicely. Then there is Conceit and Pills, with the former’s thrashiness being bold and brutal. Whereas the latter takes a methodical, groovy, gurn-inducing approach, albeit with flashes of ferocity. I really dig the hell out of these two tracks.

Though I have little to complain about with Liturgy’s vitriolic nature either. Nor any complaints about the old-school heavy metal vibes of Collateral. A potent finish that caps off a head banger of an EP. Pythonic have delivered something strong here.

Pythonic – Decomposition Track Listing:

1. Guiltfeeder
2. Conceit
