Single Slam: Seven Blood and Phoenix Lake!

Today’s single slam features Seven Blood and Phoenix Lake. You can read our thoughts about the latest singles from these bands below.

Seven Blood – Not Your Misery

German-based alternative outfit Seven Blood have shared their new single ‘Not Your Misery’, a personal track rooted in survival and recovery. The track is the latest to be taken from the band’s forthcoming debut album Life Is Just A Phase, set for release on 21st November.

Speaking on the new single, vocalist Azaria Nasiri shares:

‘Not Your Misery’ is a declaration of self-preservation and reclaimed power. The song captures the moment I finally drew a line between empathy and self-destruction, choosing to protect my peace instead of being pulled into someone else’s downward spiral.

At its heart lies a painful realisation: ‘The way you hurt yourself almost killed me.’ It’s about recognising that another person’s misery can become a weapon. One that keeps you trapped in a cycle of guilt and caretaking.

‘Not Your Misery’ marks my decision to step out of that role, to stop shrinking myself for someone else’s chaos, and to choose freedom, clarity, and self-respect over toxic connection.

A punchy and passionate explosion of alternative metal that puts focus on the powerful vocals but backed up by an expressive instrumental section. The soaring melodies, an energised chorus, and a very clever heavy twist that feels suitably unique makes it one hell of a special track. Though special music is pretty much expected with Seven Blood now and this debut album promises to be a bit of a game changer.

Phoenix Lake – Bells of Variel

Following their appearance at this year’s Bloodstock Open Air, UK melodic metallers Phoenix Lake have shared their planetary new single, titled ‘Bells Of Variel”’, featuring Tristan Hill of Azazel. Mixed & mastered by Pete Rutcho (Parkway Drive, Falling In Reverse), the single also comes alongside a lyric video (created by Andy Pilkington), and the announcement of their long-awaited debut LP, Seraphina: The Fall From Eden, which arrives February 27th, 2026.

Discussing the single and its context among their conceptual upcoming debut studio album, the band states:

‘Bells of Variel’ is track eight on the album, and it captures the darkest chapter in the story. Variel—the Angel of Death—appears, not as a guide, but as a punishment. He takes Michael, Seraphina’s lover, in a final act of heartbreak-fuelled vengeance. It’s a moment defined by grief, rage, and the fallout of unrequited love.

A band that, hopefully, should need no introduction, Phoenix Lake continue to soar in epic fashion, delivering a detailed banger with tons of replay value. The vocals are dramatic, the riffs are mighty, and the bass and drums add weight, giving the track a potency that betrays their ‘underground’ status. The rise continues, and when Phoenix Lake are releasing efforts like this, nothing is bringing them back down.
