Interview: Catching Up With Fatal Switch (Written)

It’s been a while since we checked in on Fatal Switch, so in this interview we catch up with the crossover/alternative metal band and see what they’ve been up to since we last spoke.

1. Hello! Welcome back. It’s been a little while, so first things first, how are you and have there been any significant changes since we last spoke?

We’re fired up, focused, and building momentum. A lot has changed creatively and personally, but the biggest shift has been internal. We’ve refined our sound, tightened our team, and started treating Fatal Switch like the franchise we always knew it could be.

There’s also a major feature with a well-known artist in the works, which marks a whole new level of exposure and collaboration for us. We can’t wait to share more when the time’s right.

2. So, what’s new? What’s keeping you busy this time around? A new album/EP/single release? A new video? Playing live, or planning ahead?

We’re in full release mode with our two-part EP project, Black Sky Anthem – Dusk and Dawn. We just released “Apex”, the first single off Dusk, which we wrote as the official theme for Apex Wrestling.

The video was directed by the incredibly talented Ryan Stick, and it stars pro wrestlers Flying Frank Milano and Maniacal Mercedes. On top of that, we just wrapped shooting our next music video for a brand new track called “B.R.E.A.K.”, and we’re building a whole wave of content to match.

We’re also writing constantly, booking shows, and laying the groundwork for a long-form cycle that keeps the energy flowing.

3. Describe what fans/listeners can expect.

Expect a more refined, melodic, and heavy-hitting version of Fatal Switch. This new era is about clarity, hooks, and power. We’re still fusing rap, metal, and emotion, but the execution is sharper and more strategic.

If you’re into music that brings fire and truth at the same time, you’re going to connect with this.

4. Tell me about the work that has gone into making it a reality and what it means to you to see it come to fruition?

This project took everything we had. We went all-in creatively and financially. Every track started with a theme and was developed like a short film.

Working with Kevin Jardine on production and composition helped us lock into the exact sound we wanted. He understood our vision and helped us bring it to life in a real way. Seeing it all come together feels like a long time coming. It’s more than music for us. It’s a movement.

5. Sum up what this latest development says about you and where you find yourself at this moment in time.

It says we’re not testing the waters anymore. We’re diving in. This is no longer a side project or experiment. This is the identity. We’ve reached a point where we’re not just trying to be heard. We’re building something lasting and intentional.

6. Has the time since we last spoke been a mostly positive period and has there been any one thing that stands out as being good?

Absolutely. One major high point has been seeing “Apex” connect with the wrestling world. That connection opened up a new audience for us and is bringing real excitement from people outside of the usual music scene.

The reaction has been all positive. People have told us they’re blown away by the sound, the energy, and how clean the whole package feels. That kind of validation hits differently when you’ve built everything from the ground up.

7. How about something that has challenged you since we last spoke? Has there been any particular thing that tested you, and if so, how did you overcome it?

Losing our guitarist and longtime collaborator Ryann Paqueo was tough. He contributed heavily to the writing of this new material. He stepped away to focus on family, which we fully support, but anytime you lose a creative force like that, it shakes things up. We overcame it by refocusing as a unit. We tightened our core, leaned into the songs we already had, and used the transition as fuel to step forward stronger.

8. What is a realistic goal you’d like to achieve over the next 12 months?

Our goal is to scale everything we’re doing. That means more releases, more video content, and more shows — both locally and internationally.

We’re eyeing Europe as a tour destination, pushing into sync licensing, and exploring more cross-media opportunities. The realistic goal is to keep the content flowing, the momentum building, and the message getting louder.
