Single Slam: RØRY, Knocked for Six, and Soulfly!
Today’s single slam features RØRY, Knocked for Six, and Soulfly. You can read our thoughts about the latest singles from these bands below.
RØRY – DEGRADATION
The new era of RØRY has arrived. The critically-acclaimed alternative artist has returned with a menacing new single, ‘DEGRADATION’, accompanied by a brooding and blood-drenched music video. Listen to the new single here and watch the music video here.
Speaking on the message behind the new single, RØRY shares:
‘DEGRADATION’ is me choosing truth over silence. It’s the sound of everything I swallowed down for years finally tearing its way out. This song is rage, grief, and liberation all at once… the moment you stop protecting the people who broke you and start telling the story as it really was.
How unexpected, but how exciting, we have new RØRY to enjoy, and it comes in an, unexpected, but exciting skin. Darker, heavier, and more metallised, while being unashamedly alternative and anthemic, it’s an era that everyone can get onboard with, especially as the hugely talented artist throws her all into this side of herself.
Knocked for Six – Blackout the Sun
Post-hardcore/alternative metal band Knocked for Six are back with a brand-new single called, ‘Blackout the Sun’. Arriving alongside a music video and a t-shirt featuring the singles artwork.
Bringing the fire and the fury, in heavy and thick fashion, Knocked for Six offer up a creative head banger and pit starter here. One that is short and sharp but comes with a ton of creativity and even more impact. If this is what the future of this band holds, we should be so very excited.
Soulfly – Storm the Gates
Coming straight from the deep jungles of Brazil to the arid expanses of Arizona, extreme metal trailblazers Soulfly will deliver their tribally fuelled thirteenth album ‘Chama’ on 24th October 2025 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Now, Soulfly offer fans the first taste from the album in the form of the first single, ‘Storm the Gates’. A battle cry against control and greed.
Max Cavalera comments:
‘Chama’ is the Brazilian word for flame. It also means a ‘calling’. Respect to Alex Pereira for using Itsari on his UFC walkouts. Chama is inspired by the energy of this moment. This record is the sound of Soulfly’s fire! I cannot wait to play these songs live for the Tribe! Chama!
Zyon Cavalera states:
With each Soulfly record I’ve played on, I can feel my evolution happening in real time. This record was no different as I got to handle a good amount of the production for the first time. Trying to take the band to places we have never been before was a blast and I look forward to more production work in the future!
Giving off big ‘Primitive’ vibes, it seems as though the future of Soulfly involves them looking back, and if this track is anything to go on, we’re in for a ruddy good time with this new album. A short and sharp blast of heavy noise with those classic Soulfly touches that make the band so unique. A head banger with big riffs, powerful drums, and Max’s iconic roars and shouts.
