Today’s single slam features Dying Wish, From Ruins, Covert, Cane Rouge, One Last Day, Seven Blood, Writhe, Adam and the Hellcats, and I See Stars. You can read our thoughts about the latest singles from these bands below.

Dying Wish – I’ll Know You’re Not Around

Dying Wish have announced details of their new album Flesh Stays Together – set for release September 26th on SharpTone Records. The Portland, Oregon based band has also released the album’s first single ‘I’ll Know You’re Not Around’, alongside an official music video co-directed by Eric Richter and the band’s own Pedro Carrillo.

An interesting and exciting new track from Dying Wish. Showing off a more experimental edge and exposing more complex layers across its runtime. They’re evolving and that evolution comes with more melody, but with plenty of chunky, chugging, and chaotic heaviness too. It’s an head banger with feeling.

From Ruins – Don’t Remember Me

Emerging Northern Irish metalcore outfit From Ruins return with their hauntingly honest new single ‘Don’t Remember Me’. Marking their first release since 2024’s EP ‘Poison for Your Soul’, and the debut of a revised lineup.

Produced by the multi-talented Josh Sid Robinson, ‘Don’t Remember Me’ dives deep into the raw and painful reality of mental turmoil, exploring themes of hopelessness, addiction, and suicidal ideation.

Back with a mighty metalcore track, From Ruins’ pick up where they left off, albeit showcasing refinement that makes them sound cleaner and heavier than ever. It’s an energetic listen with a big, addictive chorus, and a punchy breakdown that leads into the wildest part of the track, thoroughly enjoyable overall. Check it out here.

Covert – Altar

Covert, a metalcore/hardcore band based in Preston, England, have released their latest single, ‘Altar’.

A noisy blast of ugly, fast, and heavy intensity that is fuelled by hardcore mania but has the anthemic values of metalcore. There’s a bit of nu-nostalgia to it, which is intriguing, but what everyone will remember about this one is how hard it goes. Check it out here.

Cane Rouge – Lights Out

Newcastle’s rising alt-rock trio Cane Rouge deliver raw emotion, explosive energy, and bold evolution on their sophomore EP, ‘Lights Out’, dropping Friday 10th October. The EP’s title track, ‘Lights Out’, is out now, alongside a music video.

Melodramatic, but with a sense of raw honesty, the melodic rock side of Cane Rogue comes with a gloomy vein and half of the track is a melancholic and stern showcase of this. The other is a bit rockier, allowing Cane Rogue to show off some of the pep they have and upping the potency of their alternative ways. It’s a very cool track.

One Last Day – Still Breathing

South UK alternative metal outfit One Last Day have shared a planetary and anthemic new single titled ‘Still Breathing’, alongside a music video directed by Shaun Hodson (Loki Films).

The band says:

‘Still Breathing’ describes the fearful journey of talking about mental health issues. It centres around the self-doubt of convincing yourself that, if you do speak up, that no one really cares and that all you will hear are empty responses. Continually building yourself a prison of circular destructive thoughts and logic.

As the song progresses, so does the journey, eventually moving to the realisation that there is a need to break yourself out of this cycle and that the time is now. You will have to push through and be brave; but you’ve come this far, breaking your silence will be the tool to release you from the cycle, and allow you to flourish.

Oozing passion, showcasing explosivity, and delivering powerful melodies that are undeniably infectious, this new One Last Day track is impressive and immersive. The vocals, in particular, and how the potent lyrical content is delivered, provide a notable level of authenticity. Though the guitar solo is certainly a high point too. Check it out here.

Seven Blood – Cold Eyes

German-based alternative outfit Seven Blood have revealed their empowering brand-new single ‘Cold Eyes’. The track is the latest to be taken from the band’s forthcoming debut album ‘Life Is Just A Phase’, set for release on 21st November 2025.

‘Cold Eyes’ is a song that represents mental and emotional clarity, promoting the power of self-love and the importance of realising that we are deserving of happiness and love, no matter how long it takes. Speaking on the new single, vocalist Azaria Nasiri shares:

This song is about the brutally honest moment of finally seeing through someone, especially their charming facade, and recognising the toxic impact they’ve had, and likely will continue to have. It’s about finding the strength to break free from the ‘self-centred tragedy’ they’ve created. The message of ‘Cold Eyes’ is this: when you feel paralysed or under someone’s control, you have the power to realise that misery doesn’t have to be your companion. You can, and should, walk away from it. It’s my personal anthem of reclaiming independence and restoring inner peace.

A classic sounding Seven Blood anthem that is filled with heart and soul but urges the body to move and the head to bang. An urge that just about everyone will be able to give into, especially when the heavier chorus hits. How about that synth though!? Delightful. Check it out here.

Writhe – Devourer

UK deathcore rising stars Writhe have dropped their second brutal single of 2025, titled Devourer’, alongside a lyric video.

Discussing the brand-new single, the band states:

‘Devourer’ is a story revolving around a cosmic entity that is summoned to consume worlds whole at the behest of its master. As a continuation of the story within the world created from our previous single “HOST”, the master beckons for the beast to cleanse the cosmic landscape of heretics who resist the indoctrination.

Monolithic in size, two thousand needles collide consuming existence without resistance. The city of bones is all that remains, as the denizens prepare to witness oblivion.

F**king savage. Laughably, but so damn enjoyably so. Writhe have one goal here and it’s to wreck bodies, minds, and souls. A goal that is easily met, and then some. Yet, it’s not just heavy for the sake of being heavy as it has got thick layers of haunting and horror-infused atmosphere, some clever twists and even more exciting turns.

Adam and the Hellcats – Go Easy

Adam and the Hellcats are an unstoppable six-piece rock ‘n’ roll band from Bristol. The powerhouse act will release their eagerly awaited third album, ‘9 Lives’, on Friday 3rd October. Prior to the release, the band have just unveiled their new single and video, ‘Go Easy’.

A catchy, smile-inducing, but pensive track that is all about its melodies and vocals. Combined, creating a really emotional story and sound that powers up more and more as it goes on, but never loses the thick vein of feeling that runs through it. This one will touch the soul. Check it out here.

I See Stars – Eliminator

Electronic hardcore pioneers I See Stars have announced their new album ‘The Wheel’, set for release on Friday 12th September via Sumerian Records. In celebration of the news, the band have dropped their new track ‘Eliminator’ along with the accompanying official visualiser.

When asked about the announcement, I See Stars shared:

The last time we spent this much time on a record was our debut album, 3D. THE WHEEL is a time capsule capturing the past seven years of our lives. It’s a culmination of everything we’ve experienced individually, together, and as human beings navigating the chaos of the world. While we don’t plan to wait this long before releasing another album, we’re deeply grateful for the time it took to make this one. We poured ourselves into it, and we hope our fans feel that. We’re proud to finally share THE WHEEL with you.

A polarising track as I See Stars’ evolution arrives in the form of a mostly unexciting track (the chorus is pretty fire) and a lack of originality, which is something you could never accuse this band of. The effects are jarring throughout, but how they wreck the vocals is something else entirely. It hurts to say this, but the reality is that it’s not a good song.
