Album Review: As December Falls – Everything’s on Fire but I’m Fine (As December Falls)

After erupting onto the UK pop-punk scene with their breakthrough 2021 album Happier, As December Falls proved they were more than just a rising act — they were a force. Now, they return with ‘Everything’s on Fire but I’m Fine’, out August 15th, 2025.

Unflinchingly honest, intensely bold, and undeniably anthemic, As December Falls continue their rise to the top of the pop punk scene with a bevy of brilliant tunes that showcase their talents.

If there’s one notable thing about the album, it’s the fact that As December Falls have found a way to better balance their pop side with their rock and punk side. This makes for a more cohesive listen overall, even though there are obvious singles, and not just the ones that have released so far.

It’s all about the anthems, and while there are plenty here, some stand out more than others. Anthems such as the playful and pointed title track (there’s that relatable honestly), the smile-inducing For the Plot (the vocals and lyrics are class), the gorgeous tear-jerking Rewrite, the punchy and soberingly honest Bathroom Floor, the dramatic I’m No Good Alone, and energised Sometimes I Hurt My Own Feelings.

Yeah, there are way more anthems than anyone would expect.

Of course, there is experimentation too and it’s notable that a lot of this comes from the tracks that see As December Falls genre bend a bit more. Tracks like Ready Set Go, Therapy (cool synth and hyperactive breakdown), the dynamic Fall Apart and its surprising guitar solo, Angry Cry (a track with some groove to it), and the way in which the finale of This Isn’t Us turns misery into something almost triumphant. Absolutely no complaints here, tracks like this just make their ass kicking ways so much more potent.

It’s a great release that cements their status as one of the finest young alternative bands in the country right now. Their fanbase is only going to continue to grow and grow, deservedly so too.
