EP Review: Spin Class – Dinner at Derek’s (Self Released)

Bristol-based rock four-piece Spin Class will release their second EP ‘Dinner at Derek’s’ on July 18th, 2025.

A band filled with rock vitality, delivering imaginative music that isn’t easily definable, and featuring plenty of weird and wonderful touches, Spin Class are an attention-grabbing band. Especially as this EP is a blast, lively and fun throughout, but with exceptional creative twists and turns to the rock formula. Sometimes a little punky, sometimes a little grungy, sometimes a little alternative, but always exciting and interesting.

Setting the mind aflame and getting the body shaking uncontrollably from the start with excellent Bagel Bagel Bagel, before showcasing even more anthemic creativity with Cake, and wacky groove with Calamari Canteen (the Weezer-style chorus of this latter one is so awesome). Spin Class’ talents are on display and the result is an EP that everyone will love.

A quick intermission piece (the title track) then sets up the finale of Mr Toys nicely. A more melodic track that has a potency that gives it so much more oomph. Especially from a vocal perspective. It’s a very cool closing track and the cherry on top of a remarkable record.

Spin Class – Dinner at Derek’s Track Listing:

1. Bagel Bagel Bagel
