Weekly Release Roundup: Monday 9th June 2025 – Friday 13th June 2025

From blistering tech death to intense grindcore, to crowd pleasing rock and roll, eccentric progressive rock, experimental metal, lovable punk rock, and exciting modern metalcore, it’s a big week for releases and we’ve got a list for you to check out.

Fallujah – Xenotaph (Nuclear Blast Records)

Is it the best thing that Fallujah has released? I think so, and when you consider the quality in their back catalogue that should tell you all you need to know about this record. An album of the year contender without a shadow of a doubt.

Buckcherry – Roar Like Thunder (Earache)

You don’t always have to be setting the world alight, sometimes refining what you do to the point where every single track is an anthem, is enough. All killer, no filler, that is what Buckcherry were aiming for here, and for the most part, they nail it. It’s rock, rock with undeniable swagger, and who doesn’t enjoy a bit of that!?

Archers – Temporary High (SBG Records)

Hot damn! How anthemic is this EP and how brilliant are Archers!? When it comes to metalcore I tend to not expect too much these days, seeing as it’s an oversaturated genre and far too many bands are obsessed with modernising it via electronica. It’s hard to get too excited by any band that gets lumbered into the genre, even if it’s not what defines them. Then, along comes a band like this who do metalcore so well, they change all opinions and remind the listener of the genre’s strength.

Byzantine – Harbingers (Metal Blade Records)

A daring showcase of progressive rock and metal crossed with groove; Harbingers is the sound of a band inspired. Not just with a set of different vocalists who work together so well, but with an instrumental section that does an incredible job of keeping the listener engaged throughout. This is progressive rock and metal, but it’s not the defining feature of the record (or the band) and that is so much fun to explore.

Ocean of Another – Loneliness of My Kin (Beton Music/MENART)

Ocean of Another sit on the heavier side of metalcore, yet have some surprises up their sleeves. They are talented and imaginative, even if the music can be a little unfocused at times.

Sigh – I Saw the World’s End – Hangman’s Hymn MMXXV (Peaceville)

Sigh. Untouchable in their field and now making their own music more relevant. It really doesn’t get better than this.

Unbelievable Lake – I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream (Cursed Monk Records)

It’s mightily progressive, tremendously experimental, extremely psychedelic, and unbelievably weird. That’s got to make it worth at least one listen, right?

The Young Hearts – The Good, The Bad, & The Rest Of Us (Self Released)

A thoughtful take on growing up, dealing with challenges, and navigating this thing called life through the medium of infectious pop-infused punk rock. The Young Hearts’ new EP is really likable.

Outergods – Dethroned & Devoured (Apocalyptic Witchcraft)

Ugly and harsh, but bloody creative and highly enjoyable, this has been a long time coming but it’s great to have them back, albeit in a new form. Still wrecking necks and cracking skulls, none the less, but with a refinement that offers up darker atmosphere, horror imagery, and fantastical wickedness.
