Takedown Festival 2026: A Preview

It’s officially less than a month until Takedown Festival 2026! Are you excited yet? You should be because it is going to be immense. A two-day event that features one of the most varied lineups of the year, but maybe you already know that. I’m here to talk to the people who are scratching their heads and asking, ‘what’s a Takedown Festival’?

Listen here. Takedown Festival is an award-winning independent alternative music festival that will be taking place Easter weekend (April 3rd and 4th) at Portsmouth Guildhall. Have you ever been to Portsmouth? I haven’t, but I hear it is nice.

Not that I, or you should, expect to spend much time exploring the seafront and local amenities. After all, there’s a music festival taking place and inside the iconic Portsmouth Guildhall a wealth of bands taken from across the alternative rock and metal spectrum will be plying their trade.

This is my first time attending, so I can’t speak from experience as far as atmosphere goes, but I’ve heard good things and I know most bands playing. In fact, in the run up to the festival, I’ve been checking manty of them out for our YouTube channel. Bands like The Bottom Line, Slackrr, Zetra, BEX, Graphic Nature, Mould, Lastelle, and Saturday headliners, President. The latter being a staggering example of how Takedown Festival are often ahead of the curve.

A bunch of modern bands sitting comfortable alongside mainstays of the scene like INME, The Wildhearts, and Friday night headliner Therapy? Who recently stepped in to replace Phil Campbell and The Bastard Sons, after Campbell fell ill and sadly passed away recently. We shall all raise a glass to his memory come the night.

Elsewhere and across several stages, you can also enjoy the likes of Gnome, South of Salem, Vexed, Wargasm, As It Is, Saint Agnes, King Kraken, Mouth Culture, Carsick, Waterlines, and many more. It really is a stacked lineup, and I would argue there is a little something for everyone across the entire bill.

Come. Hang out with likeminded people. See the city and freeze on the seafront (it is April in the UK after all). Grab a beverage of your choice and experience a proudly independent festival filled with the cream of the alternative scene. Takedown Festival 2026 is going to be one hell of an event. I’ll see you there.
