Fit for an Autopsy – The Wretch

No rest for the wicked. Since the release of their latest full-length, The Nothing That Is, Fit for an Autopsy has remained in constant motion and that continues with the unleashing of a brand-new standalone single: ‘The Wretch.’

Fit for an Autopsy’s Will Putney states:

True to our general nature, ‘The Wretch’ is another relatively pessimistic and grim glimpse into our worldly outlook. In a time where nothing seems to be getting any better at home or abroad, we find there can always be a moment of comfort in the thought of burning it all down. We hope this song is that temporary oasis for you as well. Thank you for listening.

A straightforward blast of viciousness, this new Fit for an Autopsy track doesn’t mess with a winning formula. Namely a formula that sees the deathcore band go hard and heavy, but layer in melodic moments giving the whole thing a richer feel. If you enjoy FFAA, particularly their modern output, you will enjoy this one.

Kulk – Ache

Norwich based doom duo Kulk have announced their signing to Church Road Records and their new single ‘Ache’, out now.

About the single, the band says:

‘Ache’, is not only for our friend Meg who we lost in 2023, it’s for all of us left behind. This track was the first we had written after she died and has opened our shows for a while now. Ache describes living with grief after years. It’s not the immense pain of the first few days, but it’s ever present and consistent. Like a broken bone that hasn’t healed right, it has changed the way we move, act and think, always there never letting up.

It was also an honour to have Hannah Asprey, of the band IAN, perform a devastatingly beautiful cello feature.

A unique band making unique music, Kulk defy all standard genre demands going above and beyond what it means to be a doom band. Not only delving into alternative territories but drawing from the world of noise and twisting it in an even more experimental fashion. It’s a cold and harsh listen, but it leaves a strong impression. Check it out here.

Roman Candle – Blasphemous Act

Roman Candle have released their new single, ‘Blasphemous Act’, alongside the announcement of their debut album, ‘Unadulterated’, due 24th April via Sumerian Records.

Vocalist Piper Ferrari explains:

‘Blasphemous Act’ was the last song we wrote for the record, and it hit with such ferocity that it forced its way onto the album in the eleventh hour. The name came from a Magic: The Gathering card, but the song took on a life of its own — this unhinged, teeth-bared spiral of obsession and retribution. Lines like ‘your neck in my teeth is all that I need’ and ‘karma is owed, paid in full’ captured a darker, more primal side of the band that we didn’t even know we were still capable of tapping into. By the time it explodes into that repeated ‘run for your life’ refrain, it felt clear: the record wouldn’t be complete without this song.

What year is it? Roman Candle are turning back the clock with this ‘core’ driven effort that draws from a nostalgia laden style of intensity and heaviness. Wild and angry, it’s a track that oozes passion as Roman Candle throw a lot of energy into making it as chaotic as possible. Menacing, but compelling.

Beyond Salvation – Incarcerate

Rising from the heart of the UK metal underground, Beyond Salvation have returned with a brand new single, titled ‘Incarcerate’.

A meaty head banger with intensity running through it like a thick vein, this a hearty effort from an up-and-coming band. Furiously fast and ferociously heavy, but with groove, it’s a track you know will slay in the live environment. Savage riffs, pounding drums, and aggressive vocals, what more could a metalhead want? Check it out here.

Antirope – Intervention

Munich-based outfit alternative metal band, Antirope have released their new single and video, ‘Intervention’. It comes from their new full-length album ‘Bring Me To Zero’ set for release on May 1st, 2026.

Grungy and dirty sounding, this new Antirope track is a bit more experimental. Not only delivering a ton of moody vibes but delivering a heavy groove that constantly threatens to explode in vitriolic fashion. It never quite does, but that works as it makes for a tense listen, especially as the chorus flares up nicely enough. Check it out here.

Infected Dead – In Spaces Beyond

Having regrouped with a new line-up in 2024, the five-piece technical death metal band that is Infected Dead boasts alumni from the likes of Pupil Slicer, Dawnwalker and Overthrow. Gelling as a unit on stages throughout their home country of the UK, which includes previous touring alongside Bloodshot Dawn and Reprisal, as well as sharing a stage with the likes of Ingested, Vader, Immolation and Pestilence. Infected Dead’s second era is set to be cemented in stone with their forthcoming ‘Invicta’ EP. The brand new single, ‘In Spaces Beyond’, is out now.

A beastly return that comes layered with tons of progressive detail; Infected Dead are on vicious form here. Delivering death metal heaviness with focused intent and cleverly changing the instrumental tone constantly. The way in which the track flows, jagged and disconcerting, should be uncomfortable to the ears, but it’s far from that. It’s a very creative listen that makes use of all the band’s talents.

Crown Lands – Through the Looking Glass

Canadian progressive rock duo Crown Lands will release their new album, ‘Apocalypse’, on the 15th of May 2026. The new single, ‘Through the Looking Glass’, is out now.

A trip into the past, dramatic and melodic, this Crown Lands track comes with tons of retro rock vibes, blending in progressive tones that help make it more memorable. A raw tinge, layered over epic vocals, and with potent guitar twists, really hits hard. If you like classic rock music with a bit of proggy oomph, this one will please. Check it out here.

IOTA – Kaibo

Following their 2025 releases Pony (feat. Heaven Unknown), Heaven and Sober, and a string of performances across the UK, Bristol-based IOTA have released their latest single, ‘Kaibo’.

The song is a track born from the realisation that the traditional makers of success; status, material gain, and social hierarchy, often fail to deliver the fulfilment they promise. As these societal illusions dissolve with age, the song explores the vacuum they leave behind: a world that can suddenly feel overwhelming, empty, and cold.

Says frontwoman Jodie Robinson:

We’re taught to chase things that don’t actually hold any weight once you catch them. ‘Kaibo’ is about that tension between the life we’re expected to lead and the place where we actually feel at home. It’s a reminder that who you are matters infinitely more than what you own.

It’s cool to hear this band expand their sound and delve deeper into the emotional side of their alternative ways. This is a track with poignant potency, but also a track with power, especially as far as the vocals go. As it goes on, it gets a bit more chaotic and noisy, but the addictive aspects remain at the forefront throughout. Check it out here.

Growth – Under the Under

Melbourne progressive-death outfit Growth will release the long-awaited second chapter of their planned trilogy, ‘Under The Under’ on March 27 via Wild Thing Records. The title track is out now, diving into the fear of letting go of old stories and asks: who are we without the weight of the past? A haunting meditation on identity, grief, and the courage to uncover what’s beneath.

Lead Vocalist: LF states:

It’s comforting to be haunted. All that rattling of chains. By surrounding yourself with ghosts, it gives form to everything you’ve lost. They’re something more meaningful than words. Even if your physical and spiritual bodies are starved and in excruciating pain, at least you’ve got ghosts. Without them, the terrifying questions come forward: what if the dignity we give our suffering is false? What if we can still be kind, strong people without dragging that weight? What if you’re more than a collection of stories that keep yourself up at night? Uncovering that is the second step.

It shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to learn, for those who know Growth and the musical journey they are on with this trilogy, that this new track is an epic. An intense, deeply moving, expressive explosion of extreme heaviness, deep melody, and technical proficiency. It’s complex music, but complex music with meaning, but that is what this band does. Still, they consistently surprise and this new track ebbs and flows in immersive ways. There’s no ‘one and done’ here, this is a track that needs time.

Catch Your Breath – Blood Money

Hard rock band Catch Your Breath have shared their latest single ‘Blood Money’ via Thriller Records alongside an official music video. Fuelled by defiance and hard won clarity, ‘Blood Money’ takes aim at people who try to claim ownership over someone else’s struggle.

Vocalist Josh Mowery shares:

You can’t take what was never yours. ‘Blood Money’ is for anyone who’s been pushed to the edge by the people who tried to own them. We’re done staying quiet while you profit off our pain. See you at the throne.

A rebellious and ‘in your face’ assault, this new Catch Your Breath track thrills. Partially because it is so anthemic, and partially because it flares up in metallised fashion. A bit metalcore-like, it is a track twisted by alternative ideas, showcasing a ton of infectious passion. Check it out here.

Hands Like Houses – Warning Signs (feat. Dream on Dreamer)

Canberra rock heavyweights Hands Like Houses have teamed up with post-hardcore icons Dream on Dreamer on new single ‘Warning Signs’, out now via Civilians. The new track arrives as both bands get ready to hit the road together on The Lótus Tour this April.

Says Hands Like Houses bassist Joel Tyrell:

‘Warning Signs’ is about recognising emotional burnout before it becomes impossible to ignore and captures the feeling of drifting through life on autopilot, missing the signals that something is wrong while anxiety bubbles beneath the surface. It’s about appearing okay on the outside and quietly suffering on the inside, where exhaustion, numbness and overthinking take hold.

We were stoked to work on this track with Dream on Dreamer. Their guitarist, Callan, is a very close friend of ours and he has produced a lot of our music. And we have known the guys since they took us on our first tour of Australia in 2011… crazy. It felt like a great time to celebrate our upcoming tour and the fact we are still touring, creating and loving music.

Modern alternative metal with anthemic properties, this new track from Hands Like Houses has the kind of accessibility that will turn the heads of more mainstream audiences, especially as the chorus is such a body shaker and singalong. It has got bite though, and as far as displaying passion goes, they certainly doesn’t disappoint. Check it out here.

Cage Fight – Pick Your Fighter (feat. Julien Truchan of Benighted)

UK metal band, Cage Fight have released a new single, ‘Pick Your Fighter’, featuring Julien Truchan of Benighted. This is taken from their second studio album, Exuvia, on 1st May via Spinefarm.

Vocalist Rachel Aspe explains:

We wanted to write a fun, sing-along party song with themes of determination and fighting spirit, and the result is ‘Pick Your Fighter’. I also wanted to pay tribute to a French artist who marked my teenage years, and my dad suggested Nâdiya, an R&B singer who is huge back home. Musical and lyrical motifs in ‘Pick Your Fighter’ nod to Nâdiya’s hit ‘Et C’est Parti’, a motivational party song that was a huge hit. The crowning touch is some very heavy guest vocals from my French friend Julien Truchan of the band Benighted. And there are pig squeals, many pig squeals!

Cage Fight continue their rampant rise with another absolute beast of a track. One that puts Benighted’s Julien Truchan in a prominent feature. It’s a bouncy banger with a violent tone perfect for a pit or two. A track that effortlessly slips in some of the heaviest extreme sounds, pig squeals and all.
