As Everything Unfolds – Set in Flow

As Everything Unfolds have signed to Century Media and to mark the news, the band have returned with a brand new single, ‘Set in Flow’.

Speaking of the single, front woman Charlie Rolfe says:

This song was written directly from the perspective of a replicant/non-human, starting off at the beginning of the song being told who/what they are: a carbon copy of another. Eventually we follow them wanting to distance themselves from what they were, slowly becoming confident and comfortable in their uniqueness learning how to be human, even reflecting on their previous existence in anger, being kept in the dark about their unique consciousness.

A return to get very excited about, especially when it comes in such energetic fashion, but it’s how experimental the track is overall that sticks. It’s metalcore, modernised and blended with electro pop, but with thick industrial vibes, touches of techno, and so much more. It’s hard to call it an anthem as there is no traditional chorus, but there’s no denying that it has infectious qualities.

Beauty School – Day of Iva

Yorkshire alt-rock sextet, Beauty School, have released their new single, ‘Day of Iva’, featuring Rae Brazill of ARTIO.

Speaking about their latest release, guitarist and songwriter Dan Shaw says:

Day of Iva was written whilst on holiday in Croatia in 2024 I was hoping this might improve my mental health as being away from the stresses of UK life might give a reprieve. Whilst away my wife and I had a conversation about my depression and how, yes I was getting better but I still wasn’t in the place I wanted to be, highlighted by the line “When I’m in the sunshine, my days ache and I’m still no wiser”. I wanted to write something fun at its core as this is a song about being away and having adventures driving round the Croatian countryside.

Always capable of putting a smile on the face, even when it’s a bit strained, Beauty School’s new single is bouncy and airy, but with a ton of heart and soul too. They’re a band who always nail the finer details of alternative rock, and this one has layers. You’ll feel the warm sunshine, the cool breeze blowing, and the sense of peace that all of that can bring, even when it seems so impossible. Check it out here.

Plaiins – C’est La Vie

Fiery punk, indie rock band Plaiins have released new single ‘C’est La Vie’, the fourth track from their upcoming debut album, ‘Happy Faces’, set for release on 15th August via Long Branch Records.

Says frontman Chris Reardon:

‘C’est La Vie’ is about my excitement to move to Hamburg and take the plunge. I was so sick of London at that point. The cost of the city and the difficulty of breaking into the industry. Meetings with labels and deals on the table, the excitement then nothing, over and over to the point that I set up my own label and started releasing music and getting out there but it was tough and I was so ready to leave.

How great is this debut album going to be!? Already growing anticipation to near feverish levels, Plaiins send things into overdrive with this groovy banger of a track. One that also happens to be delightfully weird, as per usual. Plaiins eclectic nature has resulted in so many amazing pieces of music and this is no different. The bassy thrum, the group shouts, and the tone shift at the end proves that unequivocally. Check it out here.

Avralize – close to you

Following the impact of their previous single, ‘helium’, Avralize are now stepping into new territory with their latest single ‘close to you’.

An emotional song about being adrift in life and trying to find something, or someone to hold on to, this is the most ‘grown up’ Avralize have ever sounded. Their songwriting is on another level here, showcasing unexpected depths and clever twists on the alt-metalcore formula, especially when it comes to melody. It’s an exceptionally powerful track that will connect to so many who feel the same way.

lowheaven – Mercy Death

Post-metal outfit lowheaven have released their brand-new single, ‘Mercy Death’. The new single comes from their recently announced debut full-length album, ‘Ritual Decay’, due out on August 29th via their new label home MNRK Heavy.

Another banger from lowheaven that sits on the heavier side of the band’s sound, in fact, it’s downright doomy and notably experimental. There are layers of disconcerting heaviness, bursts of intensity, impressive vocal harmonies, and downright desperate sounding flashes of virulent hostility. All of which comes together in a very special, dread-filled, way. Check it out here.

Swollen Teeth – Foster

Swollen Teeth have unleashed their new single ‘Foster’ and the accompanying music video (via Blowed Out Records). The track highlights an often-overlooked topic in modern heavy music: the importance of a safe home, particularly for children. Today’s release is taken from the band’s forthcoming new album ‘Ask Nothing’, out on Friday, September 5th.

Says the band:

Home is a place where you feel safe and plant your roots deep enough to grow. We want to provide a permanent home for feelings and emotions. Every child deserves to know they are loved, protected, and cared for unconditionally.

Aggressive, but with intriguing touches of groove, this new track from Swollen Teeth is a bit of a different beast, but a beast none the less. One of the more notable aspects of it is the eerie and tense vibes that stay prevalent throughout. There is no doubt that the band believe in what they’re doing here, and that passion burns brightly throughout, even if the rawness isn’t quite there. Check it out here.

Atheana – Burden

Manchester alt-metalcore duo Atheana usher in a new era with their latest single ‘Burden’. It is the culmination of years of relentless determination from vocalist Soph Payton and guitarist Ross Jubber – confidently breaking new ground for the duo.

On the lyrical content, Payton says:

‘Burden’ is an ode to those who are still searching for somewhere to belong; for anyone who has ever felt like they are too much while simultaneously not enough. Exploring intense themes of mental illness and loneliness It’s a song that is really close to our hearts as it permeates new vulnerable territory.

What doesn’t kill you, only makes you stronger, right? A cliched statement, yes, but one that rings true for Atheana who return after much hardship with an absolute banger. One that finds the duo in an evolved state, filled with emotion, but so damn focused too. It’s an alternative anthem with big pop sensibilities and glorious melody, balanced perfectly by heavier rhythms and bursts of metalized intensity. I love it.

Gideon – Til the Wheels Fall Off

Tuscaloosa, Alabama quartet Gideon have announced signing with their new label home, Sumerian Records. In celebration of the news, the band have released their new single, ‘Til the Wheels Fall Off’.

When asked about the signing and new music, the band commented:

We’ve always done things our way, and Sumerian Records believed in the vision. This song is a tribute to the miles behind us and the road ahead. We’re not here for a pit stop—we’re here to break the speedometer. With Sumerian in the passenger seat, we’re going ‘Til the Wheels Fall Off.’

A fun, energetic, and electrifying blast of heaviness that grooves with metalcore intent, Gideon keep it simple here. Which just means they start aggressively, stomp throughout, hit a high with the chorus (Pantera vibes), and deliver a brazenly brutal end. A mighty track that encourages some serious head banging. Krooked Tongue – You Don’t Need A Sun Tan

Hot on the heels of April’s celebrated single ‘Marigold’, Krooked Tongue return with their upcoming new single ‘You Don’t Need A Sun Tan’, due for release June 20th 2025, taken from their debut album due for release early 2026.

A nostalgic blast of rock that is infectious fun from the start, but with a memorable message about getting out from under the weight of what’s familiar and discovering the unknown. Krooked Tongue continue to deliver lovable riff and melody focused music that has just the right amount of heaviness via the drums to give it a more substantial feel. The vocals are immense here too, really getting the message across, but in an easy going way. It’s another great song from this band. Check it out here.

Necrotted – Fat God

After the release of their single ‘Deus Ex’ (feat. Sven of Aborted/Coffin Feeder) and their recent tour with Cytotoxin, Swabian death metal heroes Necrotted have dropped another new song ‘Fat God’, featuring Alan of Distant.

The band comment on the track and video:

We promised new music for the year 2025 and ‘Deus Ex’ certainly wasn’t everything, as we’re dropping another new song. For ‘Fat God’, we didn’t let ourselves get carried away either and found a duet partner for Fabi in our buddy Alan from Distant, whose inhuman vocals fit perfectly into the overall picture of the new single. We can be seen live at a few festivals over the summer, and we might have ‘Fat God’ on our setlist. So come and party with us!

An absurdly heavy track that ticks every deathcore box, and then some. Necrotted have gone out of their way to reach new levels of addictive brutality and have recruited the incomparable Alan from Distant to assist in this. Together, they nail it, delivering one of 2025’s most savage sounding listens.
