MØL – CRUSH
As Danish alt-metal visionaries MØL count down to the release of their eagerly awaited new album DREAMCRUSH on 30th January via Nuclear Blast Records, the band unveil the new single ‘CRUSH’.
Guitarist Nicolai Busse comments on the new single:
‘CRUSH’ encapsulates in many ways the dichotomy we as a band always have sought to balance, the journey between melancholy and jubilee, uplifting beauty and devastation.
It is a gradual change or undoing of the known over time. The gravitational push and pull between the individual and the world. An acceptance of the many grey days, the mundane. Right there in the embrace of the chaos within the nuances of blues and yellows – we might discover small hints of slow emerging greens. Of beginning growth.
You can see why MØL waited to release this one as it is, arguably, their most experimental track yet. If this had been the first single they dropped, a fair few heads might have exploded. Now, thanks to the clear direction that we all know the album is going in, the insane contrast between melody and metal, clean singing and blackened intensity, and eccentric gaze shifts, a track like this delights in so many different ways. This is the final track on the album, and it has that vibe. A dreamy culmination that has a celebratory feel. It’s always darkest before the dawn. I love it.
Wildernesses – Maintenance
London based alt-rock quartet Wildernesses have announced their debut album ‘Growth’, set for release on 27th March via Floodlit Recordings. Alongside the announcement, Wildernesses have also shared the new single ‘Maintenance’, a meditation on routine, survival and the strange, everyday rituals we adopt to keep ourselves upright in a fractured world.
Vocalist Phillip Morris comments on the new single:
‘Maintenance’ lives in the small, repetitive habits of day-to-day life – the odd things you do to feel okay. Lyrically it’s tongue-in-cheek and self-aware and that unease bled into the artwork and video with these collage masks and ‘eyeless’ faces mirroring the song’s warped perspective.
A pretty, laidback, and atmospheric showcase of powerful melody and rock, taking the alternative tag and twisting it with hypnotic gaze-like elements. It’s a track you sink into, a track that wraps itself around you in comforting fashion, and a track that disorientates in style with a grand explosion of eye-widening intensity. Based off this track, this debut album could be very special. Check it out here.
Dude Safari – Silence Is Golden
Surrey’s rising grunge-pop force Dude Safari are back with their heaviest track yet. ‘Silence Is Golden’ is out now via the bands very own label Pretty Thing Records, landing alongside a new music video.
Frontman Jamie Tipson says:
This is the angriest song we’ve ever written. ‘Silence Is Golden’ is about everything you bottle up – fear, frustration, guilt, until it finally blows. We wanted the track to feel like that release. I guess it’s an audiobio of myself….not sure that’s even a word.
What does heavy mean for a band rooted in grunge rock and pop? It means noise, it means groove, it means energy, and it means punchiness. Happily, all of this comes wrapped up in the band’s familiar grungy catchy sound. It’s a banger, and the chorus is particularly fire.
Filth is Eternal – Stay Melted
Seattle rock band Filth Is Eternal have announced their third album, ‘Impossible World’, which lands 17th March via MNRK Heavy. Alongside that announcement, they also released the album’s first single, ‘Stay Melted’.
The band note:
The world can feel like a total trash fire to the point where we become lethargic. Lethargy makes us our own worst enemy; sometimes you have to kill a thing before you lose yourself to it completely.
Short and sharp, this old-school noisy rock effort gives off a strong garage vibe, albeit coming from a band with the talent to make the track feel so modern and fresh. It’s an infectious rocking racket. Check it out here.
Grove Warden – Honourless
Somerset metal heavyweights Grove Warden return with their brand-new single ‘Honourless’. A track that confronts the state of modern culture while paying homage to the honour, bravery, and devotion of those who came before us.
Showing off some really impressive evolution to their sound, Grove Warden take us on an impassioned journey with this new banger. Expressive melody giving way to a cacophony of heaviness driven by quality riffs and searing vocals. The listening experience is very memorable, and a soaring chorus proves to be the cherry on top. It’s a really impressive listen.
Eihwar – Nauðiz
Eihwar reveal a new chapter from their upcoming album ‘Hugrheim’ with the release of Nauðiz. Both a ritual incantation and a narrative trial, the track stands as a central pillar of the album’s mythological arc.
Rooted in the ancient rune meaning “need” and “distress,” ‘Nauðiz’ embodies constraint, inner pressure, and the inevitability of confrontation. In the fictional cosmology of Hugrheim, the rune takes form as Veiðhimadhr, the Hunter: an adversary not born of the outside world, but of the self. Fear becomes the opponent, and survival demands total surrender to transformation.
Few bands have the power to immerse in the way that Eihwar does, and once again, the ‘folk’ band draw the listener in with a mesmerising display of modern, danceable, Nord-infused melodies. They continue to be an anomaly and while this track is a bit more straightforward, they continue to defy all genre definitions while being undeniably addictive. Check it out here.
Gaerea – Phoenix
Portugal’s masked phenomena Gaerea have unveiled their new single ‘Phoenix’. it is the last single released before their new album, ‘Loss’, releases on the 20th of March via Century Media.
States the band:
‘Phoenix’ is a song about surviving betrayal and suffering, then using that pain as fuel to become stronger instead of letting it corrode you. Beaten down, scarred, and left in the dark, we rise again, break the chains, and reclaim control.
If you are still living in denial regarding Gaerea’s musical shift, this track will force you to accept reality and see that this band have evolved. Black metal is still a prominent part of what they do, but as songs like this show, they’re incorporating more melody, post, and core elements. I can completely understand that this shift isn’t going to be for everyone, but damn it, I adore it and this track is a banger as far as I’m concerned. The future of this band is looking bright and as long as they continue to express themselves in such a unique way, I’ll be on board.
Broadside – Dark Passenger
Richmond, Virginia alt-rock outfit Broadside have announced their forthcoming album, ‘Nowhere, At Last’, set for release on April 10, 2026, via Thriller Records. The announcement is accompanied by the release of the band’s new single, ‘Dark Passenger’.
Broadside’s vocalist Oliver Baxxter shares:
‘Dark Passenger’ is about that familiar inner shadow – when anxiety or depression stops feeling like a visitor and starts feeling like a roommate. It’s the push-pull of hating what it’s doing to you, but still embracing it, because the chaos of self-sabotage can feel so comforting.
Vibrant and moody, yet with eccentric catchiness, Broadside’s new single is a creative piece of alternative modern rock. One with sharp effects utilised in clever ways, big melodies, energetic groove, and a chorus that gets jammed in the head. It’s exciting and fun, but it also has plenty of heart and soul too. Check it out here.
Predatory Void – New Moon
Belgian sludge/doom collective Predatory Void, featuring members of Amenra, Oathbreaker and Cobra the Impaler, have released their new single ‘New Moon’. This is the second single taken from new EP ‘Atoned in Metamorphosis’, set for release on 6th February 2026 via Pelagic Records.
Predatory Void guitarist Lennart Bossu comments:
‘New Moon’ was the first song we wrote for the EP and set the tone for what followed. It reflects a relentless chase for wholeness that always ends in emptiness, mirroring the moon’s endless cycle.
Blackened speed and heaviness with freakish twists and turns is what the enigmatic Predatory Void have to showcase here. Harsh and intense, it’s an exciting listen with a thick, dangerous vein of darkness running through it. The moments when the relentless drive breaks and the tempo shifts are downright comforting, such is the intensity of this track. Check it out here.
Eville – Blow Up!
Following their breakout 2025, during which Brighton’s fast-rising misfits Eville released their debut EP ‘Brat Metal’ and played pivotal festival slots at Reading & Leeds, 2000 Trees and Burn It Down Festival, the trio kick-start 2026 with their new single, ‘Blow Up!’
Speaking of the track, vocalist Eva Sheldrake shares:
We wanted to write a song that fans could sing along to at live shows, something fun and empowering to get everyone moving. We had so much fun writing it, and we feel like that really shines through in the recording.
The Eville train continues to power forward, and having built up their name impressively, it’s time to solidify that and show just how easily anthems can come to this band. This isn’t close to them at their best, but it is them at their most obviously infectious. The goal of getting bodies moving is easily achieved, and I can’t wait to see how that kickass breakdown will go down in the live environment.
Death of Youth – Nothing is the Same Anymore
Death of Youth’s forthcoming album ‘Nothing is the Same Anymore’, is out 16th February on Engineer Records (UK), Cat’s Claw Records (UK – Cassette Tape Only), Sell The Heart Records (US), Remorse Records (France), Dancing Rabbit Records (Germany), Vina Records (Italy), and Pasidaryk Pat Records (Lithuania). The first single, the title track, is out now.
Explains the band:
The song is somewhat bittersweet in nature as it deals with the nonlinearity that comes from grief and the journey that you have to overcome to get to a place where it’s manageable. It’s not a song about completely healing, but one about accepting where you’re currently at and acknowledging how far along you’ve come from where you were at the start of the process.
The video features a protagonist facing various beings that each represent different stages of grief and overcoming them in different ways. The inspiration came from the Silent Hill video game series which features characters overcoming physical manifestations of their personal demons. It was animated by an animator named Nick Alkin who makes a lot of low polygon videos from a script that was written by the band’s vocalist Rob David. Nick took the script, and fleshed out the idea into the finished video, achieving something distinctive yet also familiar.
Death of Youth are a very fine band and the proof is in potent efforts like this. Where clever hardcore stylings run headfirst into authentic emo-esque melody. The result oozes emotion, but it’s also a track that has the capability to send you careening off into the nearest pit. It’s an exceptionally listenable effort that gets better and better, the more you hear it. Check it out here.
Poison the Well – Thoroughbreds
Poison The Well have announced the March 20th release of ‘Peace in Place’, their first album in sixteen years. It will arrive via SharpTone Records and the first single/video ‘Thoroughbreds’ is out now.
Come on then, who had a new Poison the Well album on their 2026 bingo card? Don’t lie. Ok, who had a really good new Poison the Well album (based off this early taste) on their 2026 bingo card? That might not seem like too much of a surprise, but it has been a while. Yet, you’d never know it from this new single. Poison the Well not just turning back the clock, but sounding like the past the 16 years were nothing. Excited? You should be. This is a very creative effort filled with feeling and delivered with heavy flair.
