Live Review + Gallery: Profiler & Black Coast at the Black Heart, London (10/12/25)

Tonight I’m heading down to the Black Heart after work for a cheeky bit of Black Coast & Profiler, both bands I’ve seen earlier this year. I’ve had the pleasure of watching Black Coast on the come up for some time and I’m also very excited to catch Profiler having seen not seen them in a while.

Black Coast start things off for me with their metalcore infused rock sound, immediately splitting together a very packed Black Heart. Something I’m not often able to boast about in terms of other bands I see at this venue. They keep things fast and heavy with their unique blend of rough vocals, matched with insanely catchy drum grooves that don’t slow doing at any point.

Whilst at points, I personally find it perhaps a bit too formulaic, I absolutely see why this band is enjoyed by so many people, and I believe they deserve more hype than they’re given. With plenty of crunchy bass lines and danceable drum beats, I find no reason to not big up this band. Even if, at the end of the day, it isn’t truly my cup of tea that I’d choose to have, it’s sort of an Earl Grey vs classic English 7 sugars sort of vibe. I really rate bullshit nothing breakdowns so my opinion shouldn’t be counted for much of anything. This is a good band who are clearly constantly evolving with their sound.

Moving on to Profiler, with an absolutely packed room full of hungry fans just waiting for that pit to open up, I’m under the impression that I’m in for a treat – especially considering it’s a Wednesday night.

A band full of blast beasts and tasty fills, seem to constantly put all that aside in favour of forgettable metalcore verses. This is a band that could be SO strong, if they wanted to be. In the absolute nicest way possible, this is a band that writes very good music, that I personally find far too digestible. Once again this is probably a ‘me’ issue, rather than a ‘them’ issue but I see what they’re doing and it truly seems like a ‘written for a record label to pick up’ kind of band – something I don’t find issue with personally.

However, it is not all negative, with rather flavourful breakdowns peppered in, combined with some disgusting filthy snare bombs, I find myself with a smile on my face.

Where the problem lies however, is straight after this I find myself bored as they fall into a tried and tested chorus that’s just too formulaic for me personally. They follow this up with a ‘this song is gonna slow down, next one is heavy as fuck though’ and I’m all for a slower song during a set, but genuinely nobody seems keen for it. Considering the lineup, considering the fact that most people have come out to have a drink and a mosh on a Wednesday night, it feels out of place and not that sought after.

Following the promise of ‘the next song is really fucking heavy’ we get heavy riffs and groovy drums which immediately fall in line with that tried and tested sound.

There’s a lot about this band I enjoy, and I do genuinely hope to see them again soon. This is a band I’ll be keeping my eye on, for sure.
