Interview: Getting to Know Primo Danger (Written)
With an uplifting sound that’s packed with important lyrical meaning, Primo Danger return with their most personal single yet ‘Waiting’! In this interview, we get them to know them a little better.

1. Hello! Thank you for taking the time to chat to us. First things first, tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started.
Sure.. born & raised in DFW area of Texas and grew up being into art and skateboarding, then picked up a guitar when I was like 13. Had some jam sessions with friends that were fun, but always wanted to do more so learned the basics of drums n bass also so I could start writing without being reliant on someone else’s time. Wrote a lot and it was therapeutic for me so kept doing it and dammit I’m still doing it and loving it.
2. Someone comes to you and asks you to sum up what kind of music you play – what do you tell them?
Folk Blues.
3. What’s currently keeping you busy? A new album/EP/single release? A new video? Playing live, or planning ahead?
Right now we just released a new single called ‘Waiting’ like a week ago, so promo for that… getting video ready for that, playing around the hometown for now, getting planning for the road, and getting some mixes for that hard shift into folk blues.
4. What is about this current period that is particularly exciting for you?
It’s exciting getting a whole bunch of kind words towards the new track… always great to get a new one out there but also just getting to support it and start seeing people mouth the words in the crowd right after it released is cool.
5. Tell me about the work that has gone into making it a reality and what it means to you.
Whew, it took a lot of heavy drinking years ago and pulling my head (mostly) out of my ass. I always wanted to do it subconsciously but just always became a ‘tomorrow’ mentality, where finally I just had to go at it. I’ve worked in marketing for years, mainly with the mindset of getting to use those skills for music (which has been tremendously helpful btw). It’s really cool getting to connect with people from totally different areas reach out just saying they dig the music… that and had a lot of songs earlier on that came from feeling rough, had some people come to me and said it made them feel less alone which is really nice to hear and see. That’s what really makes it the most meaningful for me.
6. Making music and being creative can be a very positive experience and can be very good for the mind. In what way has making music had a positive impact on your mental health?
Oh man, to me it is pretty much like meditating. Whenever I’m doing it, all of those negative or anxious thoughts just melt away in the instrumental process. Then once I sit on an instrumental for a while, i come back at it later when i have some sort of mood i’m in and get my therapy session in by writing out what i’m feelin at the moment.
7. It can also be incredibly challenging, more so in the modern times. What have been some challenging aspects of making music and how have you overcome them?
In the songwriting process, just getting stuck at some parts… or just getting obsessive to the point where you realize you just gotta let it go. The band always keeps me in check on that, whether it’s being like ‘yeah that’s sick’ or steering some of the instrumentals in a certain direction.
8. How do you handle the online aspects of being in a band? Having to put out content constantly, promoting across several different social media platforms, and having your success measured in likes and follows?
We handle it…. idk we just shoot out whatever we’re feeling whether it’s about the music or just shit posting. Just another avenue for people to connect with, which is cool! And yeah, the latter half of that question definitely sucks. There are so many artists out there that are so fucking rad but with low followers and low streams… it shouldn’t be relevant, but it is what it is.
9. How do you make this part of things enjoyable, and fulfilling, for yourself?
I just keep at it with the writing! Hearing from new people that dig it always keeps me going as well, but just getting my writing therapy in always is nice.

10. Speaking directly to listeners – what would you ask they do to help support you?
Come hang out at a show, buy some merch or just donate to that cash app $primodanger.
Always trying to figure out new places to go, so more people reaching out to us about a certain city helps us make that decision to get out to a new spot!
11. Outside of music, what do you like to do to relax?
Watching horror/suspense and playing video games… going on walks downtown and when i get the time, going to the skateparks to just cruise around and feel the wind.
12. Where can people find you?
Instagram, YouTube, and any of your preferred music streaming platforms!
