Interview: Getting to Know Premier Jester
Britain’s energetic metallers, Premier Jester, continue their meteoric rise with the release of their brand new single and video, ‘Slow Dance’. In this interview, we get to know them a little better.
1. Hello! Thank you for taking the time to chat to us. First things first, tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started.
Jimmy – Hey everyone, I’m Jimmy and I’m mainly harsh vocals in Premier Jester! Yeah, so after a long hiatus from music I dusted off the guitar and keyboard and began writing again and have always loved fusing genres. It was only a bedroom hobby to start with but after showing people demos I was encouraged to find other people and form a band… by the end of 2023 PJ had a full line up! Since then, we’ve been hustling hard in the studio and on set to try and bring those ideas and demos to life in the best possible way… whilst having a LOT of fun in the process haha.
2. Someone comes to you and asks you to sum up what kind of music you play – what do you tell them?
Joey – So this happened several times already in real life! Every time I say something along the lines of – “we’re like a mixture of metally techno with dancy bits but also heavy breakdowns with lots of screaming combined with melodic sing along pop punk choruses” hahaha!!
3. What’s currently keeping you busy? A new album/EP/single release? A new video? Playing live, or planning ahead?
All of the above! PJ is working night and day with some huge plans for the future. Videos, shows, new music, features – it’s all on the horizon. 2026 is Premier Jester’s year!
4. What is about this current period that is particularly exciting for you?
Adam – I’m so excited for our debut show in January! It’s been a long time coming and we will put on an amazing show and blow away the audience with the production.
5. Tell me about the work that has gone into making it a reality and what it means to you.
Chris – It means everything – all the work the boys and I have put into the music. Not just getting it recorded, but the videos and all of the work going into getting the songs ready to play live for people.
6. Making music and being creative can be a very positive experience and can be very good for the mind. In what way has making music had a positive impact on your mental health?
Jimmy – oh wow… my mind is an absolute tornado of ideas and energy 24/7!! Music is definitely one of many things I do to help stimulate and occupy it… kind of like a puppy… keep it busy or it turns crazy 😀 !! I know when it comes to songwriting Jonah is much more chilled and vibey though and Adam is a systematic techno MACHINE.
7. It can also be incredibly challenging, more so in the modern times. What have been some challenging aspects of making music and how have you overcome them?
Joe – I’d say the most challenging part of making the music for me personally has been learning to sing some of the more challenging parts of the songs in a way which is sustainable. Obviously, we want to keep getting better as time progresses so I’ve had to put in a lot of work to kick bad vocal habits which would mess me up down the line. Now I think about it, the most difficult part was definitely giving up vaping! It used to destroy my throat when singing… even now talking about it I still want one!!
8. How do you handle the online aspects of being in a band? Having to put out content constantly, promoting across several different social media platforms, and having your success measured in likes and follows?
Jonah – Being online is a fulltime job and there are some who are better at it than others. We play to everyone’s unique strengths in the band – whether it’s who’s organised enough to post, creative enough to edit or who can come up with new ideas.

9. How do you make the social media part of things enjoyable, and fulfilling, for yourself?
Adam – We are so grateful to have an engaged audience and always have fun replying to comments and messages. The amount of love we are getting from people is amazing… We love you all.
10. Speaking directly to listeners – what would you ask they do to help support you?
Chris – If you’re looking for new music or just something to jam to go give not just this song but all of our songs a listen!
11. Outside of music, what do you like to do to relax?
Joe – I like to train hard at the gym, sounds stupid but the harder I train the more I can relax after. I genuinely love to work out and get a sick pump on! If I’m not at the gym then I’m usually on the golf course or out walking my little pooch “Winky/John Weiny”
Jimmy – I have lots of interests outside of music which normally fall into either arts, nature, travel or sports. I can switch between an active go-getter and a sofa slob within 0.5 seconds haha.
Jonah – When I’m not writing music I like to read poetry to swans at the local river.
Adam – When I’m not making music, I play video games and watch Star Wars… I’m such a nerd!
Chris – Outside of playing music with the lads I like to chill out and program lighting which doesn’t really sound like moving away from music.
