Interview: Getting to Know Krapf
Krapf, the solo project from Isaac Krapf, plays progressive rock and metal and aim to release an album in 2026. In this interview we get to know them a little better.
1. Hello! Thank you for taking the time to chat to us. First things first, tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started.
Krapf is a solo venture that was started in 2020 by me (Isaac Krapf). I am from Baltimore, Maryland and serve as the main songwriter and the lead vocalist for the band. During live performances, I bring a skilled group of Baltimore based musicians to the stage.
I was inspired to begin songwriting and learn how to play music out of high school. I was navigating a “what now” moment at the time as I was looking ahead in life and felt that this was something I wanted to pursue.
2. Someone comes to you and asks you to sum up what kind of music you play – what do you tell them?
Progressive rock/metal with hook choruses and pop undertones. A lot of clean chordal guitar work layered over heavy bottom end guitars. Melodic but heavy moments.
3. What’s currently keeping you busy? A new album/EP/single release? A new video? Playing live, or planning ahead?
We are set to release a self-titled record in 2026 and will be playing a hometown show in February. We also have plans to perform some out of state shows in the new year.

4. What is about this current period that is particularly exciting for you?
Bigger stages, bigger releases, meeting new people as well as bridging new connections within the industry.
5. Tell me about the work that has gone into making it a reality and what it means to you.
Years of late nights becoming versed in our respective instruments as well as large financial commitment to recording & marketing the product. It would mean everything to me to have a payoff in the end and that the music reaches & resonates with many people.
6. Making music and being creative can be a very positive experience and can be very good for the mind. In what way has making music had a positive impact on your mental health?
Being able to project emotions and experiences (both positive & negative) into the creative side of the music.
7. It can also be incredibly challenging, more so in the modern times. What have been some challenging aspects of making music and how have you overcome them?
There is so much noise out there at the moment that sometimes it is difficult to gain exposure & traction. Social media platforms and the amount of content on it tend to suffocate a lot of really talented artists. Anyone and everyone can post & make content. This creates a sea of material for people to navigate which in turn becomes overwhelming at times.
8. How do you handle the online aspects of being in a band? Having to put out content constantly, promoting across several different social media platforms, and having your success measured in likes and follows?
While it is important to maintain an online presence, we’ve felt the best way to connect with people that resonate with our music is through live shows. Social media for me is empty in a lot of ways and isn’t an accurate portrayal of how people or a band are doing.
9. How do you make this part of things enjoyable, and fulfilling, for yourself?
Just a general love of writing & performing music.
10. Speaking directly to listeners – what would you ask they do to help support you?
Connect with us directly at shows and shoot us messages online. We want to build community and network.

11. Outside of music, what do you like to do to relax?
Tabletop gaming. Assembling & painting models is a nice break from the music grind.
12. Where can people find you?
“Krapf” on all streaming services and “Krapfband” on all social media platforms.
