Interview: Catching Up With Peel (Written – 2025)
It’s been a little while since we checked in on alternative rock band Peel, so in this interview we find out what they’ve been up to since we last spoke.

1. Hello! Welcome back. It’s been a little while, so first things first, how are you and have there been any significant changes since we last spoke?
Hey, thank you for having us back – it’s much appreciated. We’re doing alright and are developing our career slowly – day by day with patience and care. We have released five singles; a couple of them have done quite good.
2. So, what’s new? What’s keeping you busy this time around? A new album/EP/single release? A new video? Playing live, or planning ahead?
We have released four singles the past year; “Someday/Someone” in June last year, followed in July by “Love Phobia” which has done well with lots of streams and radio airplay. Then we released “One You Know” in December and that got lost among all the holiday songs. This year “Tears from the Sun” came in May. And finally now it’s time for “Modern Age Family Business” , a song we are tremendously proud of in so many ways. It was released with a low budget DiY video with a purpose to tell a story not to be a glossy Social Media bait fishing for likes. When it comes to live playing.
3. Describe what fans/listeners can expect.
Expect the unexpected…our music covers a lot of ground genre wise. It can be anything from hard riff driven rock via alt.rock, classic rock and pure pop music
4. Tell me about the work that has gone into making it a reality and what it means to you to see it come to fruition?
It is quite simple; we have worked our asses off…hehe…so it feels good to see it “come to life”.
5. Sum up what this latest development says about you and where you find yourself at this moment in time?
Our ongoing development that started with the very birth of PEEL is still standing;the main goal is still to make music that we are proud of, write lyrics that hopefully mean something to someone and to do what we can to spread it around. In a business that has proven to be rotten to the core, in a world where people care more about shallow fame than to express something, a world where people easily would sell their soul for “likes” and attention, a world where it gets harder and harder to tell what is real and what comes from human hand and heart – in this world I want PEEL to stand proud with flaws, with wrinkles, with a human soul, cracked voice, and sometimes a slightly out of tune guitar or drum beat a bit off.
6. Has the time since we last spoke been a mostly positive period and has there been any one thing that stands out as being good?
Yeah, for us it has been most positives the last year. The response that “Love Phobia” got last summer was pleasantly unexpected, and how well “Tears from the Sun” was received back in May was truly nice, and last but not least the response on our new single “Modern Age Family Business” has got. It seems to have hit a nerve, and that is good. Music is supposed to do that.
7. How about something that has challenged you since we last spoke? Has there been any particular thing that tested you, and if so, how did you overcome it?
Sometimes it feels like being in this business is nothing but a challenge. There’s so much noise, so many people screaming “see me – hear me – pick me”, and so many people doing it for the wrong reasons. So yeah, just to get heard and seen is challenging. Everything moves so fast and you’re forgotten before people even knew you were there.
8. What is a realistic goal you’d like to achieve over the next 12 months?
Increase our fanbase; hopefully get more streams and airplay, plus release an album. These three things should be achievable within the span of a year.
