EP Review: Party Cannon – Subjected To A Partying (Unique Leader Records)

Everyone’s favourite idiotic party slam band is back with a brand-new EP. One that features four tracks, a couple of remixes courtesy of Kmac2021, Frontierer and Ritual Studio, and a couple of live tracks recorded at a show in Glasgow last year. It’s ‘Subjected to A Partying’ and it is out on March 27th, 2026, via Unique Leader Records.

You don’t have to be a dumbass to like Party Cannon’s new EP, but trust me, it helps. It’s so much easier to stomach when you don’t even know what that means. Think you’re too smart for it? The good news is that you’re not, but should you have some intelligence floating around up there, this EP will finish that off.

I mean, do you really need to know what the capital of Eswatini is? How to pay your taxes? What is the correct way to wipe your bottom? Let’s all live in ignorance and enjoy the s**t out of a record that is somewhat experimental for the slamming death metal band.

What I mean by that is the four tracks all take an element of Party Cannon’s sound (grind, BDM, slam, NYDM) and focus on that. Which isn’t to say we get four wildly different sounding tracks, after all, this is still Party Cannon, but it does offer a bit more thought. Or maybe it’s a lack of thought. Let’s be honest, it’s no secret that Party Cannon write by looking at their post-party morning bowel movements, and these chaotic, aggressive, ugly, and silly efforts prove that.

That being said, it’s so hard to deny the urge to stoop to their level. After all, how many other bands are sampling Gilbert Gottfried reading Fifty Shades of Grey?

Turned on? Feel these nipples.

All jokes aside, I dig this band. I’ve been listening to them for years, have seen them live, have interviewed them, and I think they’re so under-appreciated. Yes, their music is an acquired taste, but metal often is, and their self-deprecating ways makes them even more adorable. They don’t take themselves seriously, and nor should you, but that doesn’t mean the music is a joke. How can it be when it comes with the kind of savagery that Parisian Bedbug offers? Or when tracks like Thirst Trap, High Tariff Behaviour, and Improper Use of a Speculum come with so much intensity and delivers lyrics like:

“I hope you go on tour, so I can fuck all of your mothers” and “Deep inside your ass is bleeding”.

*Chef kisses*

Never a band to short change you, the EP is packed out with some outrageous remixes that could see Party Cannon reach a whole new audience. As if that’s what the world needed – more idiots. Though, if the reaction for the two live tracks on here are anything to go by, there’s already plenty of them out there.

Have a listen. After all, isn’t it about time you joined us wallowing in stupidity?
