EP Review: Fates Messenger – Eternal War (Greyline Records)
South of England metalcore juggernaut Fates Messenger will unleash their highly anticipated EP ‘Eternal War’ on August 22nd via Greyline Records, a newly formed independent label spearheaded by frontman Tony Maddocks.

Reaching peak form here, Fates Messenger’s new EP is a beast. A modern, groove-infused metalcore beast that drags the scene kicking and screaming forward. All because what they do is audaciously anthemic and they approach everything with a passion that beggars belief. Putting it simply, this is one of the finest heavy listens of the year that expertly blends metal and core.
Kicking off with a blistering showcase of their speed & ferocity, Hellstorm is a savage start, with vocalist Tony Maddocks sounding immense throughout. The atmospheric vein that runs through it adds a strong sense of danger too.
There is no let up as the title track arrives in crushing fashion & features the talents of Tim Williams (Vision of Disorder/ Blood simple). Followed by the eye-watering heaviness and ear-bleeding intensity of Doom loop. Stompy hardcore-infused ferocity and metalised groove. What more could a head banger ask for?
How about a cacophony of vigorous and vicious instrumental speed and scathing vocals? That’s what a cover of Merauder’s Master Killer and Bleed Again offer. A relentless blast of exciting heavy sounds, but with undeniable anthemic qualities.
Finally, capping off this staggering release, it’s Bonechapel, and if you thought Fates Messenger sounded angry before, you’re in for a surprise. A good surprise, especially as Dyscarnate vocalist Al Llewellyn guests.
It’s a highlight reel of an EP and all the proof anyone needs of this band’s brilliance. Make sure you hear this banger!
