EP Review: Face Yourself – Fury (Sumerian Records)

Transcontinental deathcore force Face Yourself will unleash their new EP ‘Fury’ on September 26th, 2025, via Sumerian Records.

Following on from the quality Martyr EP (read our review here), released earlier this year, Face Yourself are back with a raging, spitting, snarling, and intense new EP. It’s Fury, and it’s one hell of an apt title.

Kicking off with the blistering Wet Dreams and the brutalising Fractures. What we get is a cacophony of old-school screaming riffs that run headfirst into modern aggressive beatdowns, anthemic choruses, scathing vocals that come from all directions, lyrical depth (as well as plenty of ‘breeeeees’), and breakdowns a-plenty, of course. It might sound ‘so very deathcore’, and it is, but Face Yourself are a cut above thanks to a meatier guitar sound, creative twists, and a killer main vocalist in Yasmine Liverneaux.

Things then get a bit more elaborate as Carousel of Violence gets more creative with effects and atmosphere, turning into something more epic sounding thanks to orchestration. Before Catacombs and Ov Agony deliver varied levels of darkness via crushing instrumentals and glowering vocals. The former’s melody is a fresh touch. Whereas the latter’s mixed tempos and methodical approach makes things sound heavier than ever.

It’s a beast of a record, one with the undeniable power to push Face Yourself to even greater heights.
