EP Review: Devilhusk – Sleep Like the Dead (Self Released)

UK-based Nu-Metalcore innovators Devilhusk will release their highly anticipated EP Sleep Like the Dead’ on 25th November 2025.

It has been a good year for Devilhusk and to cap it off, we now have this stonkingly good EP. Which, if you’ve been paying attention to the singles released so far, you’ll know is a noisy, intense, and inventive release. Modern metal, twisted into a gnarled shape by old-school nu-metal, salacious industrial elements, and hard-hitting breakcore, trap, and dubstep sounds.

It should be a f**king mess, but it all works and damn it, if it doesn’t slap.

The EP features six tracks, each delivering stompy and abrasive hits of experimental noise. Credit where credit is due, Devilhusk have crafted something attention grabbing here and if this is your first experience of their wild antics, you will have your head turned. Especially with a series of tracks like I See God, Sycophant, and Vitriol. Showcasing a violent and virulent combination of genres that creates a sense of unease, and a combination of genres that really shouldn’t sound as cohesive as they do.

Genre bending to the point of madness, the latter of those three might be the most fitting and spitting example of Devilhusk’s explosivity. Yet, there’s nothing chill about the latter three tracks either. Mach Breaker, Irukanji, and As Above So Below slamming and crashing through the mind. Here you’ll find heaviness, but the garish twists to the modern metal formula continues to be what impresses the most.

Devilhusk have an innate ability to be anthemic even while making an impossible amount of deviant noise. Are you paying attention yet?
