What this EP lacks in substance, it makes up for in style, especially as Cane Rouge’s alternative sound comes with a delightful amount of dynamism.

Each track offers varying levels of melodrama, a sense of raw honesty, potent rock melodies, gloomy infusions of familiar alt tones, and bursts of energy. The combination is stark, but effective, and quite listenable. Especially as Cane Rouge know how to add anthemic touches and experiment with the rock formula here and there.

It’s a highly digestible listen, even if the mood-altering aspects aren’t as wildly appealing as the base alternative side of things. I do think a lot of people will get a kick out of this, especially as it does sound different, and that’s no easy task in this particular scene.

Cane Rouge – Lights Out Track Listing:

1. Lights Out
2. Turbulence
3. Reverie
