Bloodstock 2025 Band Feature: Baelfýr

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! It’s Bloodstock time and 2025 is looking to be one of the best events the festival has ever put on, if we’re judging it by bands… which we are, of course.

Taking place at Catton Park, Derbyshire from August 7th to August 10th, Bloodstock Festival 2025 has not only sold out all its weekend tickets, but it also sold out day tickets for the Saturday and the Sunday and it seems likely that Friday will follow suit before the festival actually starts. Boasting a lineup that includes the likes of Emperor, Lacuna Coil, Ministry, Mastodon, Fear Factory, Static-X, Nailbomb, Kataklysm, Obituary, and headliners, Trivium, Machine Head, Gojira, and so much more spread across four stages, it’s going to be one hell of a weekend.

Baelfýr

The New Blood stage is always better off when there’s some loud blackened death metal emanating from it, and on the Friday of the festival, things are going to get a bit loud, all thanks to Baelfýr.

Hailing from Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, in the UK, the five-piece have been active since 2023, gigging relentlessly and gaining a reputation for their blistering and brutal live shows. They entered the Metal 2 The Masses Leicester this year and managed to win, earning their place at Bloodstock thanks to tracks like Disciples and more recently, At the Mercy of a Vain God. A deliciously sinful slab of dark and twisted heaviness that encourages some serious head banging.

It comes from their upcoming new EP, ‘Empowered by Hatred’, which lands on Friday 8th August. Which is really good timing, considering it’s the same day that they play Bloodstock. If the single is anything to go by, it’s going to be a beast of a record.

It’s also likely that it’s going to be one hell of a set at Bloodstock and we can’t wait to experience Baelfýr’s brand of savagery in the flesh. We asked them what it means to play the festival this year, what Bloodstock overall means to them, what attendees can expect from their set, and this what they had to say:

Playing at Bloodstock has been a dream for about as long as we’ve all been metal fans, it’s the biggest metal gathering in the UK and being given the chance to showcase our music in front of one of the most dedicated audiences possible is a huge opportunity that we don’t take lightly. We can’t wait to get on the stage and feel the energy that the crowd gives off and feed that energy back in a big way.

With such a stacked line up the list of bands we are delighted to share a stage and share this bloodstock experience with is endless. To playing the Friday along side some of metals greats is incredible with Trivium, Emperor and Katalkysm also bands on the New Blood like The Machinist and so many more across all stages and the weekend.

What you can expect from our set is that there aren’t any real surprises, we’re a blackened death metal band and that’s what you’re going to get, half an hour of heavy tunes headbanging and moshpits with no pretentions or delusions of grandeur. To top it off our Bloodstock appearance is the day of out debut EP “Empowered By Hatred” so for us will truly be a massive celebration to share the majority of that EP with everyone at Bloodstock.
