Album Review: The Pretty Wild – zero.point.genesis (Sumerian Records)
The Pretty Wild, the genre-bending, boundary-breaking powerhouse will release their highly anticipated debut album ‘zero.point.genesis’, on 21st November 2025, via Sumerian Records.

They’re so damn cool, aren’t they? Like their music or loathe it, nobody can deny that their swagger is quite something and this album embodies that confidence.
I like The Pretty Wild and the more time I spent with this album, I more it grew on me. I don’t think there’s anything particularly game changing here, from a metalcore perspective, but damn it if it doesn’t deliver bundles of joy, intensity, and memorability. Eleven (or twelve if you get the bonus track) varied efforts that genre-bend in interesting ways. The Pretty Wild clearly wanted to show off their creative range here, and it does pay off.
They’re going to be huge.
I’m very confident about that statement because this album is anthem after anthem, the kind that has mass appeal. Such as the lively opener, PARADOX. A track that is made all the better thanks to its huge chorus and its violent breakdown. Though the following title track’s breakdown might even top that, especially as the vocals reach a whole new level of ferocity. While that is memorable, the thrilling infusing of theatrical and classical musical elements really helps make this one special.
The word special crops up a hell of a lot throughout the album though. Especially when a track like Living Ded combines exciting modern melodic metal, heavier bursts of ‘core’ intensity, and thick layers of alternative vibes and pop infusions. Which would be enough, but then we have a dramatic string instruments too.
How about Button Eyes and Priestess though? The former is likable enough, another easy to enjoy track, even if it’s one of the more uninspired sounding efforts of the bunch. Whereas the latter is freaking heavy chaos, and I am all in on it. Don’t ever accuse this band of not being able to hang with the heavy lot because this track says differently.
For me, this kickstarts the album’s strongest run of tracks, with the following Omens, The Trial, h Alf a Li VE, and AFTERLIFE kicking so much ass. Anthem after freaking anthem that you can’t help but dance, mosh, sing, and spin kick to. The Pretty Wild’s music can bring all different genre fans together, and in the case of the latter track, teaming up with the talented Magnolia Park to show how strong their collaboration game is too.
Most of the album proves to be a fantastic showcase of modern metal and as it reaches its end, I wholeheartedly stand by my previous statement that they’re such a damn cool band and that their universal appeal will catapult them into the stratosphere. Although doesn’t it already feel like they’re shooting stars? Potency with INFARED, touching pop melodies with Persephone, and one last bout of energised, chorus-driven alternative metal with s Leepw ALKe R. The Pretty Wild slaying right up to the end.
