Album Review: Sweet Pill – Still There’s a Glow (Hopeless Records)
Long-awaited and much-anticipated, alternative rock band Sweet Pill will release their sophomore album ‘Still There’s a Glow’ on March 13, 2026, via Hopeless Records.

The journey to this release, the trials that Sweet Pill have gone through, the highs they’ve experienced, and the lows that have made things so challenging at times, makes for a fascinating experience. One that all listeners will easily find themselves sharing in as Still There’s a Glow expands and expands. Starting off in subtle, upbeat fashion, but immediately telling us that there’s a little more bite to this album with the expressive Sunblind.
You can feel the passion they have for their music and feel the drive they have to give this album the most attention it needs and deserves. Especially because tracks like Shameless and No Control come with a lot of dynamism. It’s here you’ll also notice Sweet Pill’s flair for the dramatic too, the kind that everyone can relate to and enjoy from a mind bending and body shaking state of being. The way each track evolves, running an emotional marathon in just a handful of minutes, while also having wild and weird touches, continues to be such a cool aspect of the band.
The album has a ton of personality about it and a lot of that comes from the eclectic vocals of Zayna Youssef and her meaningful lyrical content. Case in point? The wonderful Glow which can be summed up as a moody, melodic and introspective feeling track that is filled with familiar Sweet Pill vibes. Nostalgic, open, and honest, it’s the kind of listen that has widespread appeal through its sheer authenticity, but it’s also a track with darker tones.
Though that is an aspect of the band that long term fans will be all too aware of. Even when it comes in the form of a punkier, energised, and excitable slab of alternative rock. Let us never forget that Sweet Pill are extremely adept at being utterly addictive through an array of catchy rhythms and the middle part of the album proves that unequivocally thanks to bangers like Slow Burn, Smoke Screen, What the Devil is Selling, Makes Me Sick, Rotten, and Jinx.
Of course, there’s so much more to each track than just ‘banger’ and keen listeners will find layers upon layers of Sweet Pill flavours to unpeel and unpack. One of the best things about this album is the layers and how, one minute, you can be dancing like the world isn’t watching, the next, wistful and nostalgic, and the next, filled with focus and determination to exist. We’re all in this together, Sweet Pill are no different, and I think this album shows off just how human they are.
If you want a track that sums that thinking up, look no further than Tough Love. Heartfelt, emotional, honest, and relatable. All the hallmarks of Sweet Pill and this potent album. Which is perfectly wrapped up with Holding On and Letting Go, two unique variations on the formula, powerfully delivered and in the case of the latter, peppier and lighter, ending things in an upbeat kind of way.
The sophomore release challenge has been well and truly met. Sweet Pill have dug deep, found themselves, and delivered an album with heart and soul.
