Album Review: Onchocerciasis Esophagogastroduodenoscopy – Fugue Gnawed from the Scabbed God Cerebrum (Gore House Productions)

Extreme metal band, Onchocerciasis Esophagogastroduodenoscopy will release their new album, ‘Fugue Gnawed from the Scabbed God Cerebrum’ on April 3rd, 2026, via Gore House Productions.

The f**king noises this band makes.

After listening to the album numerous times, I still can’t decide if I like them or not, but just like a nasty rash, it’s an itch I feel compelled to scratch. Especially as, every so often, they showcase more than just relentless speed, blasting heaviness, and gurgling gutturals. Not often, but when you suddenly hear some groove, recognise a methodical beat, or feel the lift that comes with rhythm breaking down, it’s notable and all because the rest of the time, Onchocerciasis Esophagogastroduodenoscopy spew out a nonsensical racket.

You know when you were younger and you’d try and play someone a heavy metal track in the hope that they’d hear it and love it as much as you do? Your excitement turning to disappointment when they give you a look and say, “it’s just noise”? This is what they’re talking about. Although only a fool would play someone this and expect them to come away with anything but a look of horror.

Yet, as absurd as it is that Onchocerciasis Esophagogastroduodenoscopy’s approach is, for the most part, to simply hit their instruments as hard as possible and vomit into a microphone with very little care for the result, it does make sense and they know how to surprise too. One such surprise comes in the form of Apotheotic Apotemnophilia. This, following a series of gouging, tearing, and disembowelling extreme brutal sounding efforts. It’s here that the proof that this is a band with layers arrives and even though the extreme aspects of the band still rise in ugly fashion, this is one of the more replayable efforts.

In complete contrast, Entombed Within the Infinite Panopticon is near unlistenable, outside of those with a deep, dark, and twisted penchant for the most extreme of extreme sounds. The speed of the drums, the ferocity of the vocals, the intensity of the guitars and how all of that blends together in the most diabolical way.

The more you listen to this, the more it does start to make some kind of sense. Onchocerciasis Esophagogastroduodenoscopy are pushing boundaries here and while I find it hard to believe anyone is really going to come away loving it, what they have created here is fascinating and admirable. For better, or worse, it is an unforgettable listen, especially as later in the album there are more unique offerings like Heaven’s Empty Halls and Abyssikataplexika. Hell, if you didn’t think it could get any madder, the final track, Forged in the Blackest Reaches of Blasphemy, has a guitar solo in it!
