Album Review: Lesbian Bed Death – Tour Your Soul Apart (Psychophonic Records)

With Halloween round the corner, it should be no surprise that UK horror metal/gothic punk legends Lesbian Bed Death would be raising the dead with a new release. ‘Tour Your Soul Apart’ (A play on the line “We’ll Tear Your Soul Apart” from the movie Hellraiser) is their first official live album. Recorded on tour in 2024, the album features songs from all eras of the band including plenty from their latest and very well received Midnight Lust. It is out on October 17th, 2025, via Psychophonic Records.

What’s a sign that band is a big deal? It’s sure hard to tell these days, but one thing that I think certainly says something is when they’ve got enough material, history, and live shows under their belt to release a live album, and not a ‘recorded on a phone’ kind of live album either, a professional one.

Lesbian Bed Death are a band who need no introduction, having released eight studio records over the past two decades in various guises. Their tongue in cheek horror ways meshes with rocking, punky, groovy heavy metal to create an infectious experience, be it on record or on stage. Chances are, even if you’re not too familiar with who they are, that you’ve heard a Lesbian Bed Death track or two over the years.

This record, while live focused, can also be seen as something of a ‘best of’ too. Seeing as it does feature sixteen tracks from across the length and breadth of the band’s career to date. It’s a blood-stained dive into the band’s discography, and a salaciously sinful showcase of their live prowess and ability to connect to a crowd. Something that comes through strongly on this record, but do you know what really comes through? The sound of fun. Wicked fun, and while everyone will have their favourite tracks, there’s no denying that the modern incarnation of Lesbian Bed Death nails the old, the new, and everything in between.

So, what do you want to hear? A peppy, anthemic blast of body-shaking energy, such is the kind that The Antichrist offers? How about a head banger with a bit of bite? Look no further then Bela Lugosi’s Back. Or how about an iconic party anthem? It’s Satanic Suicide Sex Cult and it continues to be the perfect example of Lesbian Bed Death turning up the vibrancy in their incomparable sexy and sleazy way.

The Mummy’s Tomb, Evil Never Dies, Goth Girls Are Easy, Halloween… it’s track after track of Lesbian Bed Death raucous romping fun and while not comparable to actually being in a room with them, it’s a mighty fine way to experience the mischief until you can see them in the flesh.
