Album Review: Fossilization – Advent Of Wounds (Everlasting Spew Records)
Emerging once again from the abyssal depths of the underground, Fossilization return with ‘Advent of Wounds’. Out on February 13th, 2026, via Everlasting Spew Records.

A hammering assault of brutality wrapped up in a cocoon of dark nihilism, Fossilization are the masters of ugly, vitriolic noise and this new album perfectly encapsulates the intensity of their sound and style. Featuring seven horror-laden tomes of frenzied blackened death and doom, what we have here is a very early contender for the heaviest album of 2026.
The unrelenting guitar and drum combination of Cremation of a Seraph turns the mind into mush quickly, and that’s before the throaty, garish vocals arrive to add a layer of vomit-inducing noise to things. The speeding ferocity breaks around the halfway point, adding a new dark dimension to the song, but it’s not long before it’s back in even more intense fashion.
As far as an introduction goes, it’s a bit of a beast.
Though it’s not like the rest of the album has much chill. Disentombed and Reassembled by the Ages continues the manic assault, but here, the shift is so much darker and so much doomier. It’s also a track where the vocals sound downright demonic. Then, Scalded by his Sacred Halo doubles down on the black metal side of things, delivering a cacophony of terror-inducing wickedness. Before Terrestrial Mold’s crushing display of riffs and drumbeats threatens to leave the listener feeling like they’ve been well and truly violated.
Credit to Fossilization for keeping the album so intense throughout and managing to keep the listener engaged. Partially because the savagery on show is so compelling and partially because it doesn’t overstay its welcome. Tracks like Servo and While the Light Lasts might be substantial as f**k, but the tempo shifts, and varied levels of ruthlessness helps make it more palatable. Hell, every so often, there’s even some groove and harmony slipping in.
How do you wrap up an album that has already delivered an impossible amount of heaviness? By having the drums go even harder, the riffs even wilder, and the vocals even filthier. It’s Temple of Flies and Moss and it’s a crushing finish to a triumph of a heavy release. Fossilization are back and 2026 is already looking grimmer because of it.
