Album Review: Filth Is Eternal – Impossible World (MNRK Heavy)

Seattle punk rock band Filth Is Eternal will release their third album, ‘Impossible World’, on March 17th, 2026, via MNRK Heavy.

There’s a lot of different elements to Filth is Eternal’s sound that makes it less definable than you first may think. For starters, it is rooted in rock but it’s also notably punk. Then you throw in noise elements, grungy tones, and garage vibes and the picture becomes a little murkier. Especially as the whole thing showcases a mix of old-school thinking and modern creativity.

Did you know they crafted a pedal called the ‘FILTH EQ+’? No wonder the album’s sound is so interesting, and you really can hear what it offers. Likewise, their collaborations with artists like Blood Brothers’ Johnny Whitney, Fall Out Boy’s Joe Trohman, Gina Gleason, and Lauren Lavin, really stand out. Filth is Eternal are more than capable of delivering memorable efforts on their own but there’s no arguing with what their collaborations offer either. I really dig the hell out of a lot of this album.

In fact, while trying to come up with the best words to describe what Filth is Eternal do here, I kept thinking of three words and I think they perfectly sum things up. Those three words are ‘infectious rocking racket’. Of course, there’s so much more to what Impossible World has to offer beyond those words and across twelve urgent and focused tracks Filth is Eternal offer their own potent commentary on the state of things.

With only one track reaching the three-minute mark, it’s an album that flies by in and the vibrant rawness makes for a very compelling listen. One listen through becomes two, then becomes three, four, and so on. Especially as even though it has a recognisable alternative vein running through it, there’s a surprising amount of variety on show too.

Personally, I absolutely love it when they go faster, harder, and infuse a bit more aggression into things such as what Hellfire, Acetylene (arguably Filth is Eternal at their most metallised), and Total War offers. Though I’m far from against the tracks that are obviously ‘anthemic’ and the likes of Stay Melted, Weather & Rose, Bad Faith, Slipstream, and Skorpio really tickle my toes as far as catchy, body shaking, head banging anthems go.

I dig the squeals of feedback, the dirty fuzz that makes the teeth ache, the hardcore energy that flares up here and there, however, a lot of the album’s potency comes from singer Lis Di Angelo, who has huge melodic range but can also snarl with the best of them. Everything combined makes Filth is Eternal special and Impossible World is triumphant release.
