Album Review: Engorgement – They Rot Beneath Our Floor (Comatose Music)

More than thirteen years on from the release of their debut album, ‘Excruciating Intestinal Lacerations’, UK brutal death metal band, Engorgement return with their brand-new album, ‘They Rot Beneath Our Floor’. Out March 20th, 2026, via Comatose Music.

Well now, isn’t this fun.

Engorgement are back and with an album that will guarantee you will get certain looks should anyone become aware that you’re listening to it. The kind of looks that are then shortly followed by a phone call to the authorities because only a truly disturbed individual would listen to something as f**ked up as this.

Screaming sirens, orders to get on the ground, a knee in the small of your back, and the feel of steel around your wrists. It’s turning out to be a bad day, and then the questions start, but you have no answers. All because you were stupid enough to press play on something as horrifying as They Rot Beneath Our Floor. What kind of message are you trying to send? We all joke that we’re all a little f**ked up, but this is something different completely. What would your mother think!?

Putting it simply, I think there’s a database out there for people who enjoy this sort of music.

Shunned by society, forced to live a life in the gutter, scavenging for scraps, and all because you chose to experience the bile-encrusted, vomit-inducing, gore-drenched horror that is this album. So what!? You cry into the void of the pit you call home. It’s just an album, who cares if it sounds like guts being ripped out of an anus. So what if it sounds like chainsaws ripping through infants as wailing mothers and fathers watch on, helpless? It’s just music, after all.

That’s right. You revel in the filth, you depraved animal. The devil is waiting, and it comes in the form of Engorgement. Eight tracks, plus an intro and outro guaranteed to make all your loved ones pretend you died rather than have to explain to others where you are and what you did. It’s brutal death metal at its most unashamed, and as off-putting as the wave of nauseating noise is, there’s no arguing with Engorgement’s talents for delivering it.

I liked it and if you do too, just makes sure no one ever finds out.
