Album Review: Death Pill – Sologamy (New Heavy Sounds)
Two years on from their sensational debut, Ukrainian ‘Riot Grrrls’ Mariana, Anastasiia and Nataliia, aka Death Pill are back. Their brand-new album, ‘Sologamy’ is out on June 20th, 2025, via New Heavy Sounds.

It’s good to have Death Pill back, and even better to have them back in this kind of mood. Sologamy is a statement of an album. If the self-titled debut was the introduction, this is the ‘kick in the crotch’ declaration that they have well and truly arrived, especially from a varied, creative standpoint.
It’s all about head banging, as the record gets off to a metal-focused start, Death Pill throwing their all into a fast-paced sound punctuated by a sharp and attention-grabbing vocal line delivered in snarling fashion. It’s Listen to Me, Sister and it will fuck your system.
Their punky side arrives in style with Haters Gonna Hate. It’s an energised banger, and aside from the manic instruments, this track unleashes an array of vocal styles, nailing the gang shouts. Before their more alternative and accessible side arrives in the form of the daringly anthemic Ugly Me. Both tracks are short and sharp, Death Pill making their point in concise fashion.
It’s back to being intensely noisy as Craterface hits with serious fire and fury. Showcasing a thrilling combination of thrashing and crashing punk metal delivered in scathing fashion. Death Pill are locked in here, and it’s tracks like this that prove it. However, personally I love it when they get a bit poppier, rockier, and deliver infectious bangers like Don’t Say it So and Phone Call.
The latter is so unexpected, and I love it. A personal choice, and one that shouldn’t detract from my love and appreciation of their heavier and faster metal-focused side. Especially when that side of the band comes in such garish form as it does on Monsters (In My Brain). Easily one of the album’s most eccentric efforts. Although the excellent Hey, Man shouldn’t be ignored as the off-kilter melodic intro promises something really different and then turns into something more familiar, but utterly vibrant.
No, it’s not a track listing mistake. Outro does come next, and it’s not the final track on the album. It is a track itself, but is paired up with Pro Yarika creating a closing section that is inventive, dramatic, and astonishingly varied. Calling it experimental is putting it lightly, but it compelling.
At the end of the self-titled debut album review I said this:
Watch out world, Death Pill are aiming for domination here and with this kind of music in their arsenal, it doesn’t seem impossible to believe. Expect to hear a lot of plaudits for this band as the year goes on and expect to be hearing about them long afterwards too.
I believe I was right, and this time I’m simply going to end this review by saying that they’ve earned every single one of those plaudits and more. The voices screaming about this band aren’t just going to get louder, there’s going to be even more of them once Sologamy has been heard by the masses.
